OMG!

There is silence in my office this morning! Seriously, you guys, you have no idea how amazing that is. For the last week or more, we've had contractors in the big bay on the other side of the wall from us, tearing stuff down, throwing things on concrete, running power tools, backing up a forklift or crane - you name it, it made noise. Noise even my blessed ipod could not entirely drown out.

This morning? NOTHING.

Apparently they'll be moving back and forth between our building and the one next door today, so it won't last. But at least i'll get pockets of quiet. It will make concentrating on stuff like, oh, writing, so much easier.

Brrrr. I got a little too excited this morning when I saw SUN, and now I'm freezing in one of my summer dresses. Damn.

I had one of those story plotting moments on the way to work this morning. I feel that means I'm on the right track with the Nemesis rewrite. :-)

Yesterday's words: roughly 1,000.

Today's goal: at least 2k.

Quick military Q

So, say you're in a civil war in the far future, and both sides are fighting over a mining colony, because the depostis are too rich to give up to "the other side". And the current government wins the day, but the colony decides to fire on any ships they send down.

This would be called what, in technical terms? An act of sedition? Of treason? Of what? Militarily speaking. It feels right on the tip of my brain, but it's just not there.

Snippets return!

With the rewrite of Nemesis actually *gasp* going well, not only do wordcount posts return, but so do snippets!

This target number is subject to change, should I decide to go crazy and rewrite the whole book, rather than the first six or so chapters. Also, I could end up doing a word count meter for the whole book's actual rewrite process, once I complete these first 17,000 words.

And, to celebrate the day's week's progress, a snippet:
