Computer Update

Well, tonight Chris (the same Chris who built my computer for me two years ago) took a look at my computer, and was able to use Linux to read my HD and copy files I didn't want to lose from my computer to Mark's. He also thinks I might be able to reformat and use my old HD, his theory being that my master boot something-or-other got really screwed up somehow. Since my computer wouldn't even boot WinXp from the disk, he again used Linux to wipe out any and all info on my HD, and WinXP is now formatting. If we don't get any error messages about bad disk space, I should be good to go without spending any money.
I'll still have to re-load every program I have, but hey, no money spent = a very good thing. Chris is offically a Computer God, and I owe him a batch of cookies at the very least. He saved my files. That counts for a very great deal.
For those that have replied with interest to my last post -- I'm so excited that so many of you are interested in the conference, and I will be getting back to you on that, once I'm not distracted by computer woes. It would be so awesome if we all went, and not just because then I'd get to meet you IRL, but because I think this conference will be such a great experience.

BTW, I ended up picking up "incubus dreams" (I wasn't sure I wanted to pay hardcover price for it)... I basically read the whole thing yesterday *g* We shall have to discuss offline!
