Dear Ugly Betty,

WTH, show, WTH??  Perhaps you've misunderstood your place in my weekly TV schedule.  You are my 'lighthearted, fun, feel-good' show.  The only one in this category I watch.  I rely on you for this.  You are not CSI, Supernatural, Heroes, or God forbid, The Shield.  Sure, there have been sad, even nigh heartbreaking moments, such as when Betty gave up Henry, or when Marc's Mom rejected him.  But now you have stepped over the line!

I understand that, had Drive been picked up, you would have needed to do something with Santos.  But it wasn't picked up, and killing Santos was a completely unnecessary measure!  Okay? The trauma of Justin losing his Dad just as he was finding him, not cool!  Also, do you not realize that Santos' smokin' hotness was one of my reasons for watching each and every week?  Ok, the funny and the surprises and stuff work for me, too.  But really, I don't miss an episode, at least in part, because Santos exudes sexiness like...well...it doesn't matter anymore, now, does it?  And here I was, all excited for Hilda's wedding.

I am angry at you, show.  I feel you have somehow betrayed me with this sudden turn to killing integral characters off.  I will have to contemplate this over the summer.

No love,
Rhien

Dear SPN,

See, now killing characters off, especially in a season finale, is kind of what I've come to expect from you.  So while your finale was intense, it did not move me to tears the way some finales have.

I knew Dean would make some kind of deal to bring Sam back.  And he did.  And it was lovely when Sam figured it out at the end, and Dean was all "I take care of you" and Sam was like "DUH!  Who do you think does the same thing for you??"  and Dean was apparently dumbfounded by this revelation.  *shakes head*  Oh, Dean.  You are very pretty, but sometimes a little slow.  *loves Dean anyway*

Also, the glimpses we had of newer, darker Sammy (killing Jake w/what some might consider unnecessary zeal)?  Creepy.  And well acted by JP.  It was like watching a light switch.  One second, he's the Sam we know and love, the next he's pumping bullets into this guy with this very un-Sam-like expression of hate, and the next second, back to the old Sam.  In-teresting.

Papa Winchester coming back to save his boys?  *sniffles*  I was hoping he'd somehow stay.  Alas, he disappeared into a puff of light, presumably now going off to heaven, instead of hell.  Does this mean we'll never see him again?  Nah.  I'm guessing spirit guide at some point in the future.  Ok, hoping.

So, next season:

1. Track down all the demons and kill them/put them back.
2. Save Dean before his year is up.  Somehow.  Next year's finale, perhaps?
3. Explore whatever is different about Sam since the time he spent...dead.

All of this is very promising.

Loves,
Rhien
