*weeps*
So, normally I am a fanatic about backing shit up. I don't know why I didn't back up the file for Consort in four different ways, like I usually do. Maybe, maybe I copied it from my thumb drive to the Mac at home....maybe.
If I didn't, I am screwed. Completely. The file is....I don't know. It opens to all these little squares instead of words and wants to install a plugin for Word to even open it.
*SOB*
Remember when I first started it, and lost the first file? I had to start over, and then I was pleased because it ended up SO MUCH BETTER.
But I LOVED it this time, and I didn't just lose 500 words. I lost, I don't know. Five thousand? The entire beginning, plus a little bit from a later scene. I am FREAKING THE HELL OUT. And the worst part is, I have no one to blame but myself.
Back up your shit. I have like six copies of Nemesis in multiple locations, including as a "sent" file in my e-mail as a last resort. I cannot even BELIEVE I didn't do the same for Consort yet, especially after that first incident.
I'm going to be over here, sobbing over words lost. And wondering if by some miracle, I was smart enough to copy the most recent version of the file to my Mac. Or any version, even.

Date: 2008-09-04 06:42 pm (UTC)I hope you find a happy uncorrupted file sneaked in somewhere at home.
Also, worth not fussing (if it's not too late) with the file that you have on the thumb drive, and try opening it at home - it might work there.
Good Luck
