Finally watched last week's epsiode(s).
Let me just say, the Derevko family kicks total and complete ass. The Derevko women kick total and complete ass. And also...I knew Irina wasn't dead! I knew it way back at the first episode of the season! Yay. :)
Though it will be very sad indeed to watch her fade into the background again once this "mission" is over.
-- Irina hitting Jack: totally understandable, though she should have expected him to kill her for taking out a hit on Sydney. I mean, come on. She was married to him. She knows Jack better than anyone else alive. And she says she would have found a better way?? What better way? I'm just curious what Irina would have managed in that situation.
-- When Jack tells Irina that he looks forward to watching her get to know Nadia, because she's exceptional, and Irina asks him "where do you think she gets that from?" Did anyone else catch the look of thoughful confusion on Jack's face? What does that mean? And what did Irina mean by that? That Nadia gets it from her? From Sloane? Or (gasp) that Nadia is really Jack's daughter and all of Sloane's tests to prove Nadia is his were incorrect? AHHHHHHH! The Derevko family dysfunction is at times too confusing for me! I can't keep up.
Ahem.
-- "Of all the things you've done, and you choose to apologise for that?" Yes, Jack, she does. Because apparently infidelity is a worse sin than using you to kill a bunch of your fellow agents. And leaving you to raise Sydney alone. And...well, we can stop there. But the fact that she apologised means her marriage was more than just a job (which we knew anyway.)
I still don't get why she would ever sleep around on Jack with Sloane, of all people, but whatever.
In any case, it was absolutely lovely having her back. If Irina stays, I'll watch next season for sure. If she doesn't...I don't know.
The rest of the ep meant very little to me, and was completely eclipsed by Spy!Mommy's return. However, one part that does stick out in my mind was the ewwwwwwwww factor of Vaughn and Sydney's sex life. If the conversation had taken place between Syd and Sark, it would make sense. I can picture both of them...liking it a little rough. But Vaughn is a boyscout! He's a pansy! Sydney liking rough sex would intimidate him! Now, Sark would be turned on. But Vaughn?? Just, ew. It was, however, f-ing hilarious that Syd realized comms were on, and Jack had to listen to the whole damn thing. Poor Jack. Nothing like a little too much information for a parent.

Date: 2005-05-24 04:26 am (UTC)Very well put and I agree with you completely. Soooo did not need to hear that. And yeah, Vaughn probably cries into his pillow after Sydney's "rough sex". Sark, however... ;D ::grins evilly::

That was the only thing that made that scene worthwhile. Seeing Jack and Marshall react to that...priceless.
