Aug. 2nd, 2005 10:59 amToday feels like Monday.
So, remember that tenant who told me she had cancer and blah blah, even though the severe increase in traffic to and from her place indicated a possible drug problem? Well, the police raided her unit last week. Yeah. The cancer story is what she tells people to hide the real reason for the needle tracks. Not surprisingly, we've given her notice. Her court date is August 28th, which coincidentally is also the date by which she must have vacated the premises. Since I have no doubt she's going to jail, my hope is that she'll actually get all of her stuff moved by then.
ETA: Having just read all the charges she was convicted of in the paper, we are now giving her a 24-hour eviction notice as per Oregon law under the heading "outrageous acts: possession of an illegal substance". Our other tenants will be much happier.
We had a big BBQ with twenty or so people this weekend. It went shockingly well, and we had so much food left over I was sending doggie bags home with people. It was also exhausting, and I spent all of Sunday lazing around the house, recovering.
Movies we watched this past weekend:
Million Dollar Baby: Um, yeah. It started out well, but by the end I had to wonder why I watched this movie. What a f-ed up ending.
The Aviator: Interesting look at Howard Hughes, but again, the ending was...did it even have one? It just seemed to sort of randomly stop. Huh.
