Well. Just got back from seeing Underworld, and I have rather a lot to say. The spoiler parts I’ll put in cut tags, so those who wish to remain non-spoiled can remain so.

First of, all, I had high hopes when going in to see this movie. Bad reviews not withstanding, the previews had potential. The story had potential. Of course, I also went in with a healthy amount of skepticism, because, you see, it is my fate to go and see every bad vampire movie that Hollywood produces, because I love the mythos, and Hollywood can’t produce a good vampire movie to save its life. It continues to be one of my greatest fears that Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake will be optioned to some studio that will then proceed to massacre the story and characters beyond recognition.

But back to the point. Underworld had beautiful potential. It even had some truly glorious moments where it seemed that potential might be fulfilled. I can even honestly say I enjoyed myself for roughly half the movie. Maybe a little more. But alas, once again, I was doomed to disappointment.

And on an unrelated note, Sark has been delivered his interview questions. Hopefully he’ll get back to me on them soon. :)
