Ok, I have a couple of candidates for the "Roarke" role. I started out looking at actors in their 30's-40's because Roarke is thirty-something, but then I realized that by the time anything actually gets made, it'll be at least a few years from now. So both of the actors I've stumbles across are thirty right now, which means in a couple of years, they'll be the perfect age. Or close enough.
One is actually Irish. Cillian Murphy. Ok, I didn't see
28 Days Later or whatever it was called, cause it's just not my kind of movie. I'm going purely on pictures, the fact that's he's blue-eyed, dark haired, Irish, and can act. I did see him in
Girl w/a Pearl Earring, so I know this to be true. He's got that kind of chiseled look to his features that strikes me as being Roarke-like. Um...don't have a pic handy. Maybe later.
Ok, option number 2 is -- bear with me -- Jason Behr. Not Irish. Not blue-eyed. However, he is six foot, has some very gorgeous muscles, can act very well (he was one of the few things that impressed me on
Roswell), and I think he'd look good with blue contacts. His eyes are light enough. If anyone here saw the S2 ep of
Roswell, The End of the World, where future-Max comes back in time to keep Liz from running away with his past self, you'll remember he looks, um,
hot with long-ish hair. And conveyed the poignant emotions of that ep beautifully. The epsiode actually made me cry, and that's saying something. There are some decent screencaps
here.
Ok, and then I have one last, final thought. Again they'd have to stick some blue contacts on him, give him darker hair, but just imagine, if you will, Johnny Depp.
I don't know why it occurred to me, it just did. Johnny Depp, as Roarke. He has the maturity to pull it off, not to mention the acting chops, the presence, the ability to take on any character.
Hmm, I'm mulling it over.
