Absolutely nothing done on NaNo yesterday -- but I knew when I began that there would be days like that. That's what weekends are for. Today promises to be better. I should be able to get something done at work. Not sure how much, but a few words, anyway. Then tonight should be productive, too.

I'm also getting my haircut today! Oh, I can't wait. I've put it off for too long, because we were a little tight on money until Mark's first paycheck came. So not only is my hair too long, but the highlights have grown out too far, and I can't seem to style my hair in anything resembling "attractive" lately. But today that all ends! Thank goodness.

Other reasons to be happy? It's Thursday. That's two days left to the week. Yay! Also, Without a Trace is on tonight, my one indulgence during the madness of NaNo. :)

Hmm...

You know, one of the reasons I'm able to churn out 10,000+ words of fic in 2-3 days (when I actually sit down to write the fic) is, quite simply, my beta readers. Yes, they were wonderful sounding boards and trivia question answer-ers during the writing process, and they gave each and every fic a wonderful beta read which pointed out editing problems and story inconsistencies. But they also provided me with the something else: the impetus to continue. A cheering section. If not for them, I might have given up and languished around word 5,000 for weeks on end.

So, given that, this thought has just occurred to me. While it's really nice having a community of people also doing NaNoWriMo to chat with, post progress with, keep pace with, etc, it would without a doubt be absolutely helpful to have someone not involved in NaNo (thereby having time) just reading and providing that cheering section during this month. So I can force myself to bust out those 50k words, instead of, say, only 20k.

So, anyone interested? This is purely a selfish request on my part, I admit. And don't worry, you won't be required to beta 50,000+ words at the end, just provide feedback and a sounding board for ideas, and perhaps answer the occasional random trivia question, if you happen to know it. (What kind of flowers are night blooming, for instance?) The story is contemporary fantasy, so if you aren't into the fantasy genre, probably not for you. If you volunteer, I'll owe you something special. Like cookies or fic or something.

Also, you'd have my undying gratitude. :)
