Whoo-hoo, finished! And it's off to the beta for review.

It ultimately clocked in at just under 10K - is anyone really surprised? I know I shouldn't be. Me and wordcount estimates always run short.

I gotta say I'm pretty damn pleased with myself on this one. Plenty of angst to open the door for future fics, and since we have no idea when or if the show will be renewed and new episodes will be airing, that was important. Heh. :-)

And the one scene that was troubling me? Really wrapped up nicely. I think I finally found the characters in the right mental/emotional voice for that scene as things stand in the series now. Sure, after this things might change subtly in future fic. Emotions and reactions will be shaped by events in this fic. But for right now, I had to keep them as close as possible to what we've already seen on the show. I think I managed that, but beta response will tell me if I didn't.

Anyway, I'm feeling very accomplished right now. I'm off to go goof off with some jewelry related things. :-)
