Masquerade pics
Oct. 29th, 2006 12:18 pmAll right, everyone who knows me knows I avoid pictures of myself being taken like the plague, but I figure I talked about the process of making my costume enough, I ought to post a couple of pics. I'll have some of L, too, once she e-mails them to me from her phone.

Now I'm off to take a nap. Mark gets home from hunting today, (with, last I heard from them, five elk - you have no idea what a record this is, from a camp that has, in the last 20+ years, only brought home one!) and I want to be awake and energized enough to enjoy seeing him. :) Catch y'all later.

Ok, so ignore the goofy smile. The bodice I bought at the Ren Faire, the skirt and cloak are made of penne velvet and the inlay and shirt are this absolutely gorgeous gold fabric with embroidery down it. I whipped up the crown in the two hours I had between work and the masquerade to match my mask. I'll get a close-up of it later.

Mine was hands down the best costume there, even over the rented ones. L was very, very pleased at the number of compliments her hard work inspired, and I was able to hand out several business cards to people who's interest was sparked by our masks and jewelry. I'll try for a close-up of the cloak clasps I made later - it's kind of hard to see in this picture.

Can't wait to see close ups of the clasps and crowns (costumes are always so much better in person.) Not to mention see how L's costume all came together too.
Pat yourself on the back, nicely done!
