*gasp*  What's this?!  A fannish post?

Well, everything's been on repeats until last week, and nothing's been worth commenting on, really, until last night.

Dresden, non-spoilery sorta comments:

~ Bob.  Hmm.  We'll see.  I can understand why they'd want a real actor with real facial expressions, rather than a digitally animated skull, both for budget and acting reasons.  BUT.  I am reserving my opinion on this new Bob.  At least they still incorporated the skull.

~ Harry.  Ok.  I can see this guy as Harry.  My mental image doesn't quite match, but he can pull off the character.  Pilots are always hard to get a real read on the characters, cause the actors themselves are still finding their stride.  But so far, I have no complaints.

~ Murphy.  Hmm, I am least impressed with her, so far, for reasons that have nothing to do with her being a brunette instead of a perky looking blond.  Her first dialogue seemed very wooden to me, and sounded nothing like Murphy's voice sounds when I read her.  It improved slightly during her second scene, and I'm hoping it will continue to improve as the actress settles into the character.  *fingers crossed*

~ Um.  where's Susan?  Who's this Laura chick?  Whatever.

~ The Blue Beetle...what, they couldn't find an old VW bug for cheap and paint the panels diff colors?  Harry's driving a jeep, now?  Ok, ok, it's a small thing, I can let it go.

I know that sounds like a litany of complaints, but really, I enjoyed this first episode.  I think it has a lot of potential as a show.  It's just difficult whenever books you love are turned into another media (movie/show), because the firsdt thing you see is always going to be what's different.  Like Bones, the best course of action may well be to pretend the Dresden Files has nothing to do with the books, and just enjoy the show on its own merits.

Battlestar Galactica, Rapture :

Non-spoilery:

Holy frak, Helo/Sharon is so 100% my OTP for this show.  I love them.  SO MUCH.  Together or apart, they are awesome.

*basks in Helo/Sharon love*

Um.  Everything else is sorta spoilery.
De'anna defying all the other cylons, and their shock and deeply disturbed reaction?  Heh.  Becoming more and more human, aren't they?

HELO SHOOTING SHARON SO SHE CAN GO AND GET THEIR DAUGHTER!!!!  SO AWESOME!!!  Also, his pain at having to do so and holding her lifeless body in his arms, even though logically he knows she's still alive, d/ling into a new body.  And his absolute, unwavering faith that she WILL come back to him, with Hera.  *Hugs Helo*  Also, getting in the President's face when she tries to come down on him for his actions.  Gods, she deserved that.

Sam/Lee/Kara/Dee - Dee so does not deserve Lee cheating on her with Kara.  Or Lee sending her to save Kara at the risk of her own life.  Dee handled herself well, when she was with Kara.  My respect for her just keeps growing.  And at least Kara had the balls to admit her shortcomings.  "I love Sam.  I hate Sam.  I love Lee.  I hate Lee.  I have the cheat, just to keep all the pieces straight."  No, actually, you don't Kara.  You're just self destructive like that.  You can't allow yourself to ever be happy.

Anyway.  Caprica Six killing Boomer to save Hera and help Athena escape with her?  So. Awesome.  I love the entire storyline surrounding that particular group of characters.

Lee and Sam working together against the cylons, tossing live grenades to each other to throw?  Damn hot.  *fans self*  I can see why Kara can't make up her mind.  Though I have to say, Sam knows who she is and loves and accepts her anyway.  And he's so awesome.  Really.  He had me at the beginning of this season, when he was working with the resistance.  He deserves better than what she gives him.

Also, you could see the respect Lee developed for him during the fighting, and there at the end when they're both crouched on the Raptor wing together.  (I'm sure slashers are all over that.)  I will be fatally disappointed in Lee if he continues to cheat with Kara after this.

Baltar back on the Galactica at the same time that Caprica Six escapes with Sharon and also shows up there?  No coincidence, I think.  But I do have to say, Caprica Six deserves better than Baltar.

So.  What are speculations on who the cylon is?  You know, the face De'Anna recognized?  It has to be someone she had dealings with, in order for her to say "Forgive me, I had no idea."  I don't think it's Baltar, that's for sure.  If he turns out to be a cylon, I'll be bitterly disappointed.  It would completely undermine his entire character as the betrayer of the human race.

But I'm pretty stumped as to who it actually is.  Hmm.  I'm sure Starbuck's artistic rendering of the nova will make people think it's her.  I don't.  Sure, something special is up with her, but I'll be shocked if she's a cylon.

All in all, a great return.  Can't wait for next week. :)

Um.  I need a Helo/Sharon icon.  Maybe more than one.

My vote for the hidden, final five Cylon is Gaeta. I mean, they were pretty awful to him when he was Baltar's assistant so it would make sense for her to apologize to him.

I don't think Starbuck is a Cylon. They keep hinting at big changes for her and I'm wondering if the burned hands have anything to do with it. Maybe she won't be able to fly anymore. That would change everything about who and what she is and force her to find a whole new meaning for her life.

Oh, Gaeta's a definite possibility! I kinda hope not. But very possible...I'm trying to think who else D'Anna was in some way cruel to...or who she's killed. I can't remember, honestly.

But I think some possibles for cylon are:

Dee - Again, I hope not. More than anything, this would be a cheesy "way out" for the L/D/K/S quadrangle they have going on.

Tigh - Ohhhh, I like this possibility a great deal. It opens up some real new things for his character. But...maybe unrealistic, considering his character and history.

Sam - same problems with this that I have with Dee being a cylon.

Billy - being a cylon wouldn't be limited to just the characters still living. This could be a great way to bring someone back.

I think it would unspeakably bad writing to have either Baltar or Kara be a cylon, but hey. It could happen.

I'm guessing that Roslin, Adama, and Lee are all off the table. Also, having Helo be a cylon would be pretty impossible, given the hybrid baby Hera.

I like the Billy or Tigh idea too, actually. That could be very interesting. From reading interviews, I'm not confident that anyone or anything is off the table. This show just continues to impress me in the way it's written and the stories thatit tells. I'm so hooked!

Very true. I hope they don't pick someone just for 'shock' value, though. But unlike most people, I'm not nearly as 'disillusioned' with the show since S2 began as some of bitter diatribes I've read. Yes, a few episodes mid-season 2 lagged somewhat, but they recovered, and IMO, came back just as strong as ever. I was THRILLED with the finale of S2. Yes, it was shocking, but also brilliant.

Though I know mine isn't the popular opinion. So far, I have very little to complain about. This show continues to be my favorite on television.

I haven't seen the BSG yet, but I am a spoiler hussy so...HELO and SHARON HOLY WHAT. That is...brilliant and crazy and amazing. The fighting Agathons live up to the name.

And I don't know what the Dresden Files is, but any show with a car named Blue Beetle is a friend of mine.

I, too, enjoyed Dresden, and I think I can get used to the changes. But, I am perfectly happy if Susan never shows up on the TV show. Can't stand her in the books.;)
