Curse you, USA network, for showing Law & Order: SVU episodes so completely out of order!  How am I supposed to make sense of story arcs, when you deliberately show episodes from last season one night, and episodes from the current season another night?  Or even back to back?  Especially when all of said episodes in some way have Olivia missing in action, or not Elliot's partner, or returning as his partner, or deciding not to be his partner.  *holds head*  I don't watch the show on NBC, just one USA, so it makes it hard to keep track of everything when they do this!

But all of that aside, what a great grouping of episodes!  My subject line, btw, is a quote from the medical examiner regarding Elliot on a particularly bad day.  It made me laugh out loud when she said it - oh, so true.  I love brooding intensity as much as the next girl, but damn straight it can be annoying as hell!

Ok, so that episode that guest starred Lou Diamond Philips as a horrible child sadist?  Talk about intense!  First Olivia almost dies when she gets her throat slashed, and Elliott is clearly emotionally screwed by this ("Oh my God, Olivia, no!"  And he was practically crying.).  And then she has to choose whether or not to shoot him in order to stop LDP at the end of the episode (who is using Elliot as a shield).  That was the most intense scene I think I've ever seen on this show!  Both of those actors did such an incredible job of acting with just their eyes.  Elliot begging her not to make his mistake, to take the shot, and Olivia telling him she's sorry because she can't.  Elliot, the idiot, thinks she's saying she's sorry because she's going to.  Whatever, Elliot!  Clearly, you guys care too much about each other to make that choice, you big brooding dork!  You said it yourself.  "You and this job are the only things I have left.  I can't risk losing either."

So....those of you who watch the show, have they ever done anything with that?  Other than have Olivia choose not to be his partner for awhile, and then come back a few episodes later?  I mean...have they at least addressed the fact that Elliot and Olivia obviously love each other, but neither one wants to admit it?  In that episode in the next season, when Olivia was undercover in Oregon, and she was in the hospital knocked out, she came to saying his name, like over and over, and that girl in the bed next to her spent the entire episode not letting her forget it.     So obviously there have been a few little things, right?

There has to be fic, at least, right?  Help a girl out!

I mostly watch this show for the procedural drama.  I don't really ship my procedurals much.  I love the relationships between all the characters on SVU - Munch, Fin, Benson, Stabler, even Wong with everyone.

But dude, I could so get behind this.

A. No, they've not gone anywhere with O/E; the first few seasons, E was THE CATHOLIC FAMILY MAN!!!!! and there was no way, but then when he and his wife split, I thought maybe, kinda... and then Olivia went undercover (while the actress had her baby), yadda yadda.

C. I can appreciate O/E, but my SVU OTP is Olivia/Alex (the former ADA). SIGH.

Have fun. :-)

Ooooh, a link! Thanks. :) Yeah, I never really got any romantic vibe for O/E those first few seasons. As you said, E was too much the family man, and O had issues of her own. But tnow they have that whole Mulder/Scully "we've been partners for so long, no one else gets us" thing going for them.

I watch the show when I remember too and they haven't gone there but it's unspoken if you get what I'm saying. Nothing concrete has happened tho.

I do get what you're saying. :) I never would have thought this show might go somewhere concrete, until I saw that ep last night. I mean, they were pretty overt and obvious with the O/E vibe, a lot more so than I would have given TPTB credit for. Now I'm wondering where else they might go with this.

Did you catch xlana's post?

Apparently she sent you a thank you note! *laughs* So formal! And, may want another!

I got the thank-you note Saturday, and had to smile at both the formality and the thoughtfulness. My m-in-law is HUGE on thank-you notes. :) Haven't caught her post yet - haven't yet braved wading through the weekend backlog of the f-list. But I will this morning, before I make my big 'bobble' post later today, w/pics of all the bobbles. :)

Thanks for the heads up!

Olivia transferred to Computer Crimes for three episodes or so and then went back to SVU. A few episodes after that, she went undercover and Elliot partnered with Dani Beck. After Dani left and Olivia came back, it's been pretty much status quo, except for one episode a few weeks back. Cragen had the two of them evaluated by a department shrink (the one played by Mary Stuart Masterson) because he thought they were too close and it was negatively impacting their work. At the end of the episode, the doc admitted that they were unhealthily close and said they shouldn't be separated because they're Cragen's best detectives. There have only been two episodes since, so everything's a bit weird.
