So, I'm going to babble some more about my soap.  And do a little bit of a picspam too, because I can.  :D  And for people like [profile] ms_pie, who may be looking for a bit of a nudge to start watching again (*cough* I burn the week's eps to DVD for my sister - just sayin').

In case you are un-versed in soap fandom, all the couples have cute names for their ships, just like in regular fandom (in fact, I think soap fandom might have invented this practice.)  My favorite ship, for years, has been Liason - Jason Morgan, hitman and enforcer for mob boss Sonny Corinthos, and Elizabeth Webber, the sweet girl who saved his life, literally, and who's life he has saved in return many times over.  (See icon for pic.  Why yes, those of you uninitiated in the awesomeness of GH, Jason does have brilliant blue yes.  And why yes, a hitman is somewhat similar to an assassin or a super-spy...for the record, I loved Jason waaaaaaay before there was ever a Sark.  I have a 'type' - my husband's eyes a re a pretty vibrant blue as well, no coincidence, I'm sure.)

Some Jason and Elizabeth history, very abbreviated (this has been eight years in the making):

~ She saved his life when she found him bleeding to death in the snow.  They became friends.
~ when the love her life "died" (a temporary state on any soap opera, of course), Jason was there for her to lean on.
~ in those days, she dreamt of being an artist, and visiting Italy.  The idea of going there one day is a subject often raised between them to this day, as Jason is one of the only people she shared this with.
~ eventually Lucky (her OTL) came back from the dead played by a different actor, derailing anything romantic between Liason that TPTB might have been heading toward.  Sometime around then, Steve Burton left the soap to try his hand at primetime, and Jason left town.  He asked Elizabeth to come with him, and she turned him down, sadly.
~ By the time Burton (and Jason) returned, all was not well in Lucky-Elizabeth land.  The chemistry w/the new Lucky was not the same as with the old (who was played by Jonathon Jackson and he was AWESOME), and TPTB were in the process of separating the once beloved couple.  Lucky slept w/Elizabeth's sister, and that was the end!
~But TPTB were not behind a Liason hook-up, either.  They danced around it for months teasing us w/their 'special friendship', and then when Elizabeth was kidnapped and Jason frantic to find her, she slept with fellow kidnappee, Zander!  Oh, those stupid writers.  Jason moved on, and so did Liz, though she did end up pregnant w/Zander's child.  Zander died, and Liz ended up married to Ric, a psycho who at various times drugged her, poisoned her, used her to hide his kidnapping and terrorizing of another woman, and contemplated smothering her to hide his hideous deeds.  Obviously, that marriage ended.
~ Elizabeth ended up with yet another new-Lucky, while Jason was alternately with his boss's golden-girl sister, Courtney, and later, his boss's ex-mistress, Samantha.  (See a theme?  Jason's undying loyalty to Sonny is part of why he and Liz never made it to coupledom - she has a problem with the dangers of his job, and the fact that it would bring danger to her young son, Cameron.  Yet somehow Jason ends up with women tossed his way by Sonny, in one way or another.)  But the relationship w/Courtney was as doomed as Liz's with Ric, and Samantha's self-destructive behavior is driving a wedge between them.  (She slept with Jason's most hated enemy, Ric, during a short interval when she and Jason were separated.  Jason's never quite been able to forget it, even though he's tried.  Yes, this would be the same Ric who was married to Liz.  He and Jason mutually hate one another with the passion of a thousand fiery suns, for reasons which are many and varied, but boil down to Ric being an obsessive psycho.  Sam could have slept with almost anyone else, and Jason would have said to himself "Well, we weren't together at the time."  But Ric?  He can't quite look past.)
~ Which leads me to the now-infamous ONS - the night Sam slept with Ric, Liz found her drug addicted husband, Lucky, in bed w/another woman.  As she has always done in bad times, she went to Jason for a shoulder to cry on.  Except Jason had just seen Sam with Ric, and was a mess himself.  This led to an incredibly hot one night stand between the two 'friends', and Liason fans everywhere wept w/joy that their patience for eight years had not been in vain.  (Also, Steve Burton does not take his shirt off every chance he gets, like some male soap stars.  I think it had been a good two years of dry spell until that wonderful three episode arc of hotness.):

~ the next day, Jason and Elizabeth both vow that no matter what, they won't regret their one night together.  They needed each other, they were there for each other, etc.
~ a couple of months later, Liz discovers she is pregnant (yes, they used protection - there was a side storyline involving a pregnant teen and a bad batch of condoms, believe it or not.   LOL!)
~Her drug addicted husband accidentally nearly kills her (and the baby he doesn't know she's carrying).  When Lucky accidentally discovers Liz is pregnant, he checks himself into rehab and gets clean 'for his baby and Liz'.  Guilt ridden, Liz can't bring herself to tell Lucky that the baby might not be his.  She waits for the paternity results.
~In the meantime, Jason finds out she's pregnant, and point blank asks her if it could be his.  When he finds out it might be, he asks her to marry him if it is.  Though Liz is tempted, she turns him down.  She gives him some trumped up reason, but in her heart, she doesn't want to marry Jason 'just because he felt obligated'.  Part of her loves him, had always loved him, and only wants to marry him for that reason.
~Also in the meantime, she is divorcing Lucky's lying, cheating, drug addicted self.  She can't raise her children w/a man she doesn't trust.
~The paternity results come back, and before she can announce them, certain key people 'assume' the baby is Lucky's, and Liz holds her silence on the truth, believing it is best if everyone believes it this way.
~ Eventually, she's taken hostage by an evil villain w/about twelve others, and almost miscarries (but doesn't, yay!).  afterward, she and Jason are trapped in an elevator together, and she finds she can no longer keep the truth from him -she tells him he is the real father of the baby.  They both plan to tell their significant others the truth, but circumstances intervene, and they can't.  Elizabeth ends up asking Jason to stay silent, and allow her and Lucky to raise the baby in a 'family unit' - Jason's job is still dangerous, and Lucky got clean for this baby.  Finding out it's not his could drive him back to drugs (WHATEVER!  The writers needed a reason to keep the paternity a secret.) Jason agrees, though it pains him terribly to give up his child, he sees her point about it being better for the baby to be raised in a nice, safe family.
~ Finally, comes the redletter day when Liz goes into labor.  There is a storm, and the power goes out.  Liz goes into labor early and ends up with a burst placenta - Jason finds her unconscious and brings her to the hospital, where doctors race to an emergency C-section.  For a few terrible moments, neither mother nor baby are breathing, but both are revived while Jason looks on, torn.
~While Liz is still out, recovering from the surgery, they wheel in the baby boy so he'll be there when she wakes.  Jason is with her, and gets to hold his son for the first time.  He is overcome with emotion and cries:

(I should perhaps mention that Jason is the strong silent type - man of few words, but when he does speak, it's generally important.  He's very observant and wise, in addition to being a kick a$$ enforcer.  Oh, and look at those arms!  *sigh*)

Liz wakes up, and the first thing she sees is Jason holding their son.  She, too, is overcome and cries as Jason lays the baby in her arms.  After a few moments (she is still tired from her brush w/death), Jason takes the baby from her - Lucky finally arrives, takes the baby from Jason, and gushes about being a Daddy.  Jason is clearly ripped by this, and Liz just as clearly feels terrible as she sees the pain in Jason that Lucky is oblivious to - just like he's oblivious to how, exactly, Jason happened by their house to find Elizabeth in time to save her and the baby.  Jason leaves, and out in the hall he sits w/his head in his hands, crying some more.  Then, Lucky is suddenly crying out for help - Elizabeth has fallen unconscious again.  She's bleeding badly, and the doctor's don't know if they can stop it.  Lucky has everyone surrounding him for support.  Jason goes up to the roof, where he can let his emotions go without risk of anyone asking why he's so upset:

Lulu, Lucky's sister, who stumbled upon the secret of the baby's paternity weeks ago, and begged Jason to let her brother be the father 'so he'll stay clean' follows him up to roof.  She tells him Elizabeth will be all right, and he says, clearly crying again and his voice all choked up "She has to be."  Then Lulu proceeds to go on and on about the baby and how Jason just needs to wait and not say or do anything, because Liz will wake up and be fine.

Later, Lulu's friend Spinelli (he's Jason's friend, too) goes up to the roof to tell Jason now is the time to claim his child, and finds Jason still distraught.  From a man who doesn't ever show his emotions, this is a lot of crying in two days:

Later still, Jason goes back to his penthouse to cancel his out-of-town business as he waits to hear back on Liz's condition.  While there, his old enemy Ric shows up, and threatens him to stay away from Liz!  Jason is not impressed.  Even when Ric tells him "You've always been a little bit in love with Elizabeth, haven't you, Jason?"  Blah, blah, stay away from her, or else.

Evidently Ric doesn't get that threatening a hitman is not the wisest course, even if he is smart enough to see what Lucky and the others are oblivious to - Jason loves Elizabeth!

I'm excited to see what today's ep will bring.  I'm convinced that my OTP for this show is finally happening!  At least they have a child together now, and that's a bond TPTB will never be able to ignore.

You- crack me up. I've loved these 2 since way back in the day! It killed me that they never really got a good shot with each other. I'm sooo over Lucky (and Sam for that matter) and I really want this whole thing to be over and Jason be able to be Liz and his little "baby Stone Cold".
love the icon!

Hee. :)

No, they never did get a good shot! TPTB never really supported them, they just danced around the idea and then ripped them apart. I loved Lucky back when Jonathan Jackson played him - nothing against Greg Vaughn's acting, he's a great actor, but Lucky won me when Jackson was playing him, and I've never gotten over his absence.

And the road they've taken Lucky down has not made me love him with Liz. Lucky and Elizabeth are NOT Luke and Laura. And I'm sooooooo tired of Sam "poor me" McCall. I used to really like her and Jason (even though Liason was still my OTP), but not for a looong time now.

LMAO. *pets you* Your fangirling is cute. I haven't watched GH in forever. Where and when the hell did Steve Burton get those arms, my god. I remember when Jason used to be so wee and scrawny and such a goody-goody. lol. I stopped watching around the time the real (and only, dammit) Lucky left, so this is all very entertaining. Hee.

*sigh* He was in Tuck Everlasting, too. And Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Not that I watch some movies just because he's in them, or anything. *cough*

Pfft, you're not much older than me. Talking about GH makes me feel old, though. I still remember the old days -- Anna and Robert, Luke and Laura, Frisco and Felicia, Robin and Stone... Ok, now I'm scaring myself with how much I remember. lol

Yes, Jonathan Jackson was absolutely the only real Lucky. Not that Greg Vaughn sucks, he's good and all, but....he's not my Lucky, and never will be.

OMG! Steve hasn't been scrawny in a long time. I think he's opposed to showing off his muscles, though, for some unknown reason. I have more pics - I should post them. :D

Oh, Steve... I remember him back in "Out of This World." lol

Oh, you should definitely post more pics -- especially nekkid ones.

Okay... Okay... I get it! I must start watching again *g* It has been years since I kept up with GH but Jason and Sonny were always my favorites. And did I see that Jax is still around? I thought he went away years ago... Anyway, I liked him too :-)

Hee! Jason and Sonny are still my favorites. Man, Sonny has so much charisma, he's hypnotic. And Jason is, well...I think I've gushed about him enough. :)

Yes! Jax is still around, in fact they're gearing up for a major storyline involving his ne'er do well brother, Jerry. Jax and Carly actually just got married, much to Sonny's disappointment.

I watched GH obsessively through college, back during the Brendy-Jax-Sonny love triangle. *sigh* Those were the DAYS!
