It's been awhile since I gushed about NCIS, and since the season finale was last night, it seems appropriate. With spoilers:
MW continues to impress me ~ the way he can go from cracking jokes and sarcasm to the (IMO) "real" Tony when the situation calls for it - like the time Abby was shot at in her lab, and he was all serious and lethal, and she was sort of giddy and babbling. (Tony: "Is this how you react to being shot at?" Abby: "I don't know, this is a first for me.") He did that again in this episode - when he's in the elevator with Nicky, and he looks over at him, he's all cop, no hint of anything but 'serious' Tony. I love that.
Awwww, them all at the bar together was a nice scene. I was really surprised that the 'secret' relationship between Jimmy and Agent Lee didn't come out, though. I expected Ducky, at least, to have known by now. Of course, I think he does, and just isn't saying anything.
Man, the undercover guy working for Le Frog (or whatever his name is) is hot. In an uber masculine, capable-of-anything kind of way. Not my usual type physically, but somehow attractive despite that.
Ok, I admit, I was expecting Jeanne to die. Ever since we discovered Tony was really in love with her, I've considered her dead woman walking. Then we get the finale, with her acting ridiculously stupid for a woman who survived medical school - come on, your boyfriend is a cop, and yet when you're in a potentially dangerous situation, you run ahead of him like an idiot? And then when he stops you and tells you to get behind him, you have gall to ask "Why?" Tony's response, "Because I'm telling you to," was perfect. He was in 'real' Tony mode. You don't question, you just do. Because gosh, do you think maybe he knows how to handle himself just a little bit better than you do in these situations?
But she didn't die, and now I understand why. TPTB had much bigger plans for Jeanne and Tony. No, instead of predictably killing off the woman Tony finally falls in love with, they make her the daughter of NCIS's greatest enemy. Who, thanks to undercover guy, doesn't believe Tony 'the player' really loves his little girl. Ouch. Not good for Tony.
I guess I should have seen this coming. Jeanne is French. So is Le Frog. I really should have seen it. But I didn't. And now we have to wait until next season to find out what happens!
Raise your hand if you think Ziva's 'bad feeling' had everything to do with Le Frog and nothing to do with Nicky the drug dealer. *raises hand*
Also, I thought it was great when Ducky called her on always monitoring Tony. "Like a mother with her toddler" or "a woman jealous of her lover". Ziva did not like that last comparison! But she did have a point - if Tony told her he would be there, and didn't show up, there had to be a reason. Even Ducky seemed to wordlessly concede to that.
I can't believe we have to wait 'til next season to find out what happens! I hate these cliffhanger finales. *pouts*
Ok, and let me just say for the record - I really, really don't see any of the characters on this show hooking up with each other anytime soon, canon. Not Gibbs/Jenny, Tony/Ziva, no one but the side characters of Agent Lee/Jimmy. Why? This is Don Bellisarius we are talking about! The man who strung us along on JAG for years and years. Teasing is what he does best. Follow through? Not so much.
And, something that didn't occur to me until now:

And, something that didn't occur to me until now:
So, is Tony in love with Jeanne, or is she just an undercover assignment?? OMG, I can't believe this didn't occur ot me right away. All season I wondered why Tony had to have a separate cell for Jeanne to call. And why his job never seemed to come up, ever. Sometimes I thought he was hiding her, and other times I thought "oh, she knows." But him being undercover and assigned to get close to her makes perfect sense! Except:
~ Remember when he asked the Director for advice about sleeping w/Jeanne? He was worried because he'd never slept with someone he was in love with before. Why would he ask that if it was an undercover assignment? And if it was an assignment, especially one dealing with Le Frog's daughter, wouldn't the Director have known about it and said something to the effect of "Don't get too attached, Tony, she's just an assignment."??
I am so confused! Is she just an assignment, or did Tony by some unbelievable coincidence fall in love with the only girl on the planet related to the Director's greatest enemy??
