Tivo #2 arrived yesterday, and as of last night, we now have Tivo on both of our televisions, and I am officially ready for the Fall season to begin. Yay! Plus, it's nice to be able to watch TV in the bedroom and have all those Tivo features, like knowing instantly what's on any given channel (we don't have a cable box) and pausing live TV.
So this seems like a good time to decide what shows I'm going to watch, or attempt to watch, this season. As always, some of these will likely fall by the wayside due to time constraints - after all, one can only watch so much television - or sheer boredom with the show/premise. Some may sit on el Tivo until a handy sick day. New shows I'll mark with an * because I'm picking up a couple I didn't watch last season. Everything not marked by an * is something I watched in previous seasons.
Sunday:
Cold Case CBS
Shark* CBS - I watched a couple of eps last season, but felt pretty "meh". I've heard rumor that Kevin Alejandro (aka Santos from Ugly Betty will be joining the cast this season, and yes, I'm shallow enough to pick it up just for him. If it is still too "meh", however, not even the gorgeous charisma of KA will hold my attention.
America's Next Top Model* CW - *cough* So, I normally hate reality televeision w/a passion, but I watched a marathon of this while sick this past summer, and....ok...so I got sucked in. Shut-up! I know! But seriously, these girls are not, generally speaking, drop dead gorgeous. But then you put them in make-up and pose them, and wow do the good ones ever stand out. As do the idiotic morons who sabotage themselves. (Such as the girl who cried because they cut her hair, refused to allow them to cut it again, and voltunarily left the show. Over an inch of hair! OMG, the stupidity.) Anyway. So I'm flirting w/the idea of watching the new season. *shuffles feet*
Monday:
Chuck* - NBC
Heroes - NBC (OMGSQUEE!!!!!! My most anticipated show this season.)
Journeyman* - NBC
Yes, Monday nights belong to NBC for me. I may also check out Samantha Who?* on ABC as a half hour laugh.
Also, I'm sure I'll continue punishing myself w/the brightly colored arrogance that is CSI: Miami, *sigh*. Some things are just habitual.
Tuesday:
NCIS - CBS
The Unit - CBS
Bones - FOX
SVU - NBC
Crap! they moved Bones to the same timeslot as NCIS!
kistha , you can get a cable splitter and set it up to watch one show while the Tivo records another. I never did it with mine because of sheer laziness, but I'm told it can be done. Or, you could just as easily record on the Tivo in the main room, while watching the other show in the bedroom, which is what I did all last year in these situations.
Reaper looks interesting, but it reminds me a bit of the incredible Dead Like Me, and....I'm still kind of resentful over DLM's cancellation even though it's been a couple of years. Plus, I don't think Reaper will even compare, so I don't think I'm checking it out, unless someone on my f-list raves about it enough. Also, I watch House as it encores on USA. And this last season's finale left me wondering if they're replacing half the cast. And if they are...why bother watching?
Wednesday:
Pushing Daisies* - ABC - Because it looks like Neil Gaiman could have written it w/Tim Burton. It just looks...charming and creepy.
Criminal Minds - CBS
CSI: NY - CBS
Bionic Woman* - NBC - We shall see. I'll try it, at least.
Thursday
Ugly Betty - ABC (My second fav returning show, although I'm cautious now. Last season this was my "fun" show. Then they did what they did in the finale. Now I'm not sure what to expect, though I'm sure "fun" will still be part of equation!)
CSI - CBS
Without a Trace - CBS
Supernatural CW - My third fav returning show, I think. Though at times it may rival UB in my affections, though for different reasons.
I may occassionally catch Smallville, but I have no plans to diligently watch it.
Friday
Doctor Who - Scifi
Moonlight* - CBS - The latest vampire offering, of course I'm watching it! Also, David Greenwalt - yes, from Angel - has taken over the show and revamped (heh, heh) it w/recasts and overhauling. Sophia Myles has replaced a much less charismatic actress as the lead love interest, and Mick's immortal mentor has gone from an older guy, to young Jason Dohring (of VM fame), which IMO makes the character less of a stereotype and far more interesting. Young of form, old of mind. I like it. This show just went from "I'm tentatively watching" to "OMG, David Greenwalt is helming it - it promises to be very good, indeed!"
SGA - Scifi
Blood Ties - Lifetime - Returns October 12th at 11pm. Unfortunately, LT in the genius have decided not to re-air the first half of the season in prep for the new second half. But you canw atch them all on their website, or so I understand, or d/l them via iTunes. Though I think it'd be pretty easy to pick up what's going on in the show w/out having seen the first half. It's not very complicated, LOL.
Notes about other shows:
New Amsterdam, my personal most highly anticipated of the new shows, has been pushed back to midseason by FOX. Jerks. The Sarah Connor Chronicles is also set to debut midseason. Surely someone knows when the BSG: Razor mini is airing this fall? November, I think? The new season doesn't start until January, though.
And I think that covers my viewing schedule. Whew. Who knew I watching this much television?
Ok, in the breakdown of shows I absolutely cannot miss:
Heroes, NCIS, Bones, Criminal Minds, Ugly Betty, Supernatural, CSI...in no particular order. The others are likely to sit on Tivo unless I have time to watch them. Obviously, if BSG were airing, it would be included in that.

Date: 2007-09-12 05:46 pm (UTC)I'm curious about Journeyman. I really like the lead actor, Kevin McKidd, ever since seeing him in Rome. I'm just worried that it'll end up being a time travel conundrum of the week type of show, Quantum Leap style. Which isn't necessarily bad, but a bit tedious week in, week out. I hope it's more than just that or I'll get bored really fast.
And Moonlight might be fun--I'd even settle for cheesy vampire fun, guilty pleasure style. I do like two of the actors in it: Alex O'Loughlin (who I know from an Australian mini) and Sophia Myles (Reinette from Doctor Who, amongst other things). Alas, it also has that Shannyn Sossamon chick, who while being gorgeous, yes, can't act to save her life. Hopefully, her role isn't that big.
I may check out some of the other genre stuff like Bionic Woman and the Sarah Connor Chronicles. We shall see.
