Adventures in soldering
Apr. 17th, 2008 09:11 amI haven't played around with my torch in some time, and for whatever reason, I decided last night was the night to break it out and play. *sigh* I find soldering rewarding and thrilling - watching that bit of solder melt and go exactly where you wanted it to is definitely fun - but also frustrating as hell. This is hard, and time consuming, and a whole lotta WORK. If I'm going to sell this stuff, I've got to get a lot better, and a lot faster at it.
I don't think I ever posted pics of the first bezel set ring I did, so here's the second. It's definitely an improvement over the first, but oy, do I have a loooooong way to go.
I have a lot of sanding and polishing to do yet, hence the rougher look. It is definitely not finished. This is an 8mm moonstone cab:

I'm probably going to get some colored resin to put behind the stone, give it a little colored glow. The white with the silver is a little forgettable.
