Amazon gold box deal of the day: Band of Brothers for $25.99.
You guys. This is such a good deal. And if you haven't seen this series yet, it is SO WORTH just buying it and watching it. You won't be sorry. I am so tempted to buy a copy for everyone on my list, except most of them already own this.
Mark and I are rewatching this on Blu Ray right now. AMAZING. I mean, holy cow amazing. It's not just the clearer picture, or maybe the clearer picture makes the colors sharper, too, I don't know. But I have no words to describe how incredible it is.
This is one of the greatest series ever made. It's a piece of history recreated as close-to-possible to how it actually happened. I'm not just saying that. One of my good friends, D - his grandfather was in Easy company. We've got the book he put together with pictures and photocopies of letters and things from the war. My friend D asked him if BoB was accurate, and he said yes, that's pretty much how it happened.
That's him, in that story I've linked. Bill Wingett. He went to a reunion in Europe a couple of years ago, and there was some problem with the commemorative zippo lighter all the members of Easy were given, when he was on his way home. airport security confiscated it. But no worries, he got it back.
I defy you not to get teared up listening to the real men these actors are portraying talk about their experience at the beginning of each episode. Sure, it can be hard to watch at times, but that's because it doesn't pull any punches. Both beautiful and sad, this one is definitely worth owning, especially at such an outstanding price.
