Fannish: Legend of Korra

rhienellethSo, a LOT of things about The Legend of Korra have impressed me, filled me with fannish glee, etc, etc. The evolution of the Cabbage Man, for example (awesome!). The characters, like Lin, who are descended from our heroes. The most recent flashback episode, in which we actually get to see many of our heroes as adult people (was hearing Aang's adult voice weird for anyone else?) Again, AWESOME.
However, I just got done watching the latest episode, and

GENERAL IROH!
Okay, so I loved every single character from the original series to pieces. But I know it is NO SURPRISE to anyone who knows me AT ALL that Zuko was my favorite. Tortured prince. You know. Kinda my thing. And Azula was like the best psycho crazy teenage villainess ever. (In Diablo 3, I play the sorceress mostly because I get to hear Azula's voice.) And Iroh...*sniffles* he was the best Uncle ever. I cry every time I watch the episode where he sings Brave Little Soldier Boy, the one they dedicate to Mako, who voiced him.
Anyway.
GENERAL IROH.
WITH ZUKO'S VOICE.
And his eyes. And..and..I just cannot put into words the inarticulate FANNISH GLEE I felt at that moment. I may have rewinded and rewatched the scenea couple four or five times. Maybe six. IDK, I was not in my right mind!
So. SO. SPECULATION TIME.
I like Mako and all. And I know there's probably already some huge fannish following for him and Korra, and that's fine. But I actually really like Asami. She's all badassery without needing to bend. She stood up for what she feels is right against her own family. She deserves better, honestly, than Mako is giving her right now, but I've really kind of been shipping the two of them up until now, when I'm kind of mad at Mako for dropping her like a hot rock for Korra, and then not even manning up to his feelings.
Anyway. I have a feeling maybe the show is going to put General Iroh and Korra together. Because Katara and Zuko fans didn't get their ship in the first series. On the other hand, I'm thinking hot new General Iroh could be pretty awesome for Asami to move on from Mako. IDK.
But here's what I do know for sure: GENERAL IROH is going to come in and SHAKE SHIT UP.
And really, I don't care what he does with who, just so long as he is BADASS IROH in honor of his namesake, and continues to speak with ZUKO'S VOICE. I am SO THERE!!!
