Yeah, so I'm at work this morning with a nasty head cold. I have...four more hours to get through, and then, thankfully, only one class today. I can't breath through my nose, my head aches in that sinus-headache way, and my thermometer this morning said my temp was approaching 101. Damn it. I don't get time off with pay, and can't afford to miss a day. Of work or school.

Oh, and I'm bored stiff. I'm online, updating my journal to fill five minutes of the four hours I have left. Because while cruising the internet might be mildly acceptable at my work place, curling up in a corner and going to sleep isn't.

Since I'm here, I might as well

Ok, I've watched the ep, I've read reactions here, and so I'm not going to add a lot of things that basically restate what others have said. I will say this. I agree, 100%, with [livejournal.com profile] amylud, that while Sark might have been out of character according to fanon, he was not as much for canon. There have been several eps where he has expressed fear, shock, awe, etc, etc. We may wish that was not true, and as a fanfic author who has made her version of Sark more cold and 'untouchable', I can understand the reaction After Six's Sark got.

But was it really so different from the Sark who expressed fear to Sloane, when strapped down to a table and threatened with torture? Was it so different from the Sark who said, last season "My loyalties are flexible"? I don't think so.

As for his reaction to Lauren, I agree with whichever of you on my f-list said that he may be looking at Lauren as a surrogate for Sydney, whom he can't have. He did, after all, say the same words to her "You are so good." And we never have gotten to see the more personal sides of Sark -- maybe black eyeliner and black lingerie is a huge turn on for him. (Though, as others have stated, those devices are a bit overdone to show how villainous a woman is. When Syd was being Julia, she upped her black eyeliner usage by a ton, too.)

I still think Lauren being 'bad', is just a convenient way of clearing the road of S/V, and that disappoints me.

Previews - I have the utmost faith that no matter what nefarious-ness Sloane has up his sleeve, in the end, Jack will still be Syd's Dad, in every way including biological. Because that's the way it has to be.

Hmm....you make sense...darnit..I always wonder if my being such a huge fan of the Sarkney or of Sark has clouded reality. I seriously did think Sark was a bit out of character...but then you pointed out the other times he was like this. I don't know..it's all so complicated and I'm just so amazed at how badly everyonet took that episode. Oh well..maybe it was good that we have this three week break..more time to recuperate.

I re-watched the ep the other night, and after watching each scene carefully, the only way in which he felt out of character for me was how easily Lauren fooled him. But then, he is male. :) All men can be blinded by thinking with wrong body part.

I just think Sark would be more wary. Especially after working with Irina.
