~ First, everyone knows about LJ's hiatus tomorrow, right? (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 for the link!) Basically, LJ will be totally and completely down for at least four hours tomorrow morning, starting 8am PST. Total LJ blackout. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sure I'll be checking the site like crazy come noon, seeing if they're back up. *clings to LJ*

I'm just glad it's only for four hours.

~ Second, I seriously tweaked my wrist this weekend. Too much jewelry making, I think. When it started doing weird hurty things, I should have stopped. I didn't. This morning, something in my wrist, along the outside edge up into my pinky and ring finger, particularly the knuckles, hurts like whoa anytime I put pressure on it. Pressure like lifting a coffee cup or glass of water sends excruciating pain up my wrist and into my hand. Driving to work this morning was an exercise in trying to find a way to shift gears that didn't bring tears to my eyes. Of cours this had to be my right wrist, the hand I use for everything. Luckily, typing and mouse clicking don't seem to hurt.

I'm sure it will be fine, but I'm going to take it easy on the jewelry stuff for the next couple of days, and give whatever I strained a chance to heal.

~ I saw two movies this weekend, Quantum of Solace and Changeling. And better yet, we got the new Trek trailer in front of Bond! It was a total surprise, and OMGITLOOKSAWESOME!! WOW, does Zachary Quinto ever look like Leonard Nimoy in profile! It was eerie, in the chills kind of way.

Y'all should know by now that I'm a total Trek geek, right? And that Spock is totally my favorite? I'm sure I've relayed the story about seeing the second movie in the theater for my eighth birthday, and sobbing hysterically because OMG they killed Spock, and nothing my mother said could console me. (I want that shot of Spock and Kirk for an icon. BFFs!) Anyway, unlike many fans who are skeptical or wary, I am freaking EXCITED AS HELL. The same writing team that did Transformers! It looks fabulous. Nothing will ever replace the classic cast for me, obviously, but I am so beyond excited to see Kirk and Spock meet for the first time, and see the first exchange of verbal antagonism between Spock and McCoy. *glee!*

Ahem. But about the movies I actually saw this weekend. Bond was excellent. Not quite as good as Casino Royale, IMO, because the ratio between action and character development seemed more uneven in this one. (In the slightly too much action category.) But Quantum of Solace also didn't have the half hour of Bond declaring his undying love for Vesper, so hey, tradeoff. (Note: I am not against the fact that James loved Vesper. I'm against the fact that the first movie actually had him say the words, and then decide to retire for her. What?? First of all, a guy like Bond doesn't declare his undying love so blatantly after a few days' acquaintance. He might fall that fast and that hard, but saying the words comes harder. It would have been much more effective, IMO, to show how he felt for her. To have him take a little mini-vacation with her, and have M maybe express some concern about the depth of his feelings for this woman, to have him torn up after her death, and ready to go kill some people over it, and have another moment of concern from M or someone, and Bond just gives them this wordless look, you know? MUCH better and more in character, to me. We are men of action. Words do not always become us.

But, we're talking about Quantum of Solace - Spoilers )

And Changeling. Wow. What a sad movie. A good movie. I won't be surprised when Ms. Jolie receives an Oscar nod for it. Or Mr. Eastwood, for that matter. But overall, sad. Still two thumbs up, though.

~ I'm sure if you've scrolled the weekend posts, you know my new fascination with Dragons. I won't link them directly here this morning, but most of my hatchlings have wings! Please go, view, and click if you so desire, to help them grow into adult dragons. :-) Then I can start cross breeding them for more eggs!
