May. 31st, 2005 11:55 amI think in the case of holiday weekends, we really need an extra day to recover from the holiday. Seriously.
I spent yesterday cooking and grilling (baby back ribs - yum!) for a bunch of people, who all inhaled the ribs so fast my husband bemoaned the fact that he only got a first helping. (In retrospect, this was rather rude. People really should have asked "Hey, I'm on my third/fourth helping, has everyone else had their second?" before scarfing everything that was left. Especially when you consider I bought four racks of ribs for six adults, and one little boy who ate very little. AND especially since the numerous side dishes - baked beans with bacon and onion, potato salad, corn on the cob - were barely touched by comparison.) But I assured him I'd make ribs again before the summer is out, just for us.
Cooking and entertaining is hard work. I cleaned house in preparation on Sunday, did yard work Saturday, and went shopping for the big meal Friday afternoon. I'm tired today. And I really don't want to be here. *sigh*
I'm going to go and pick out a new pair of glasses when I get off work today. I can't wait. I'm debating getting the kind that tint, or have clip ons, so I'm not relegated to contacts all summer. Anyone have an opinion?
