May. 31st, 2005 11:55 amI think in the case of holiday weekends, we really need an extra day to recover from the holiday. Seriously.
I spent yesterday cooking and grilling (baby back ribs - yum!) for a bunch of people, who all inhaled the ribs so fast my husband bemoaned the fact that he only got a first helping. (In retrospect, this was rather rude. People really should have asked "Hey, I'm on my third/fourth helping, has everyone else had their second?" before scarfing everything that was left. Especially when you consider I bought four racks of ribs for six adults, and one little boy who ate very little. AND especially since the numerous side dishes - baked beans with bacon and onion, potato salad, corn on the cob - were barely touched by comparison.) But I assured him I'd make ribs again before the summer is out, just for us.
Cooking and entertaining is hard work. I cleaned house in preparation on Sunday, did yard work Saturday, and went shopping for the big meal Friday afternoon. I'm tired today. And I really don't want to be here. *sigh*
I'm going to go and pick out a new pair of glasses when I get off work today. I can't wait. I'm debating getting the kind that tint, or have clip ons, so I'm not relegated to contacts all summer. Anyone have an opinion?

Out of the blue wordiness
Date: 2005-06-01 04:15 pm (UTC)I have since lost interest in Andromeda and this spring I went back to your Alias fic page. I never did see Alias season one, but was lured into watching season two this spring when I heard that Lena Olin was going to be in it.I was not disappointed and when I finally saw the lovely Mr. Sark, I knew it was time to read your Sarkney. It was so very, very good and served as a stepping stone into a new fandom, Alias.
It must have been sometime this March when I read it and I have not regretted it, although my Sark(ney) obsession is taking on huge proportions. I have since bought Season One on DVD and I now know what the header in your journal is all about. Season Three is coming along on TV now and I have been warned about it, but I'll watch anyway. That's addiction for you.
I only recently started a live journal myself and am still unsure of the etiquette of this, but I have friended you and would love it if you were to friend me back. :)

Date: 2005-06-01 04:30 pm (UTC)Ah, All the Stars Asunder. I wish I could finish that fic, but I'm afraid Andromeda lost my interest about the time Tyr left the series, and I haven't been able to make myself finish work on the fic since. Despite requests from various people. Which is really unfortunate, because I loved writing it.
S2 was truly the best Sark and Sarkney season of Alias. If only Lena Olin had stayed with the series, but unfortunately she didn't. The show isn't what it once was, but the various Sarkney authors out there still produce some excellent fic. Many of them are on my f-list. (Off the top of my head, auburn, redrover, cognacgirl, rez...)
Welcome to the community, and enjoy! :)
