Wow, this has to be some kind of record, right? For number of entries in a row on Rhien's LJ?

I bet it is. You can blame my boring work environment. Today I actually have something to do, but the pattern's been set, now. Upon arriving at work in the morning, I must first check e-mail, read my friend's list, and then update my journal. Then, and only then, can work beckon.

Since I'm here for five hours, and the work I have to do today will only take about one, I can get away with that. :)

So, one of my best friends is moving this weekend. She, her husband, and their adorable one and half year old daughter. I'm slated to help them on Saturday, and I'm dreading it. Not because moving sucks, but because my friend, wonderful as she is, is the most unorganized mover ever. EVER. I've helped her move...(mental count)...four, five times now? And every single time, she does NOTHING. Nothing. No preparation, no packing ahead of time. We show up, her husband has done everything from renting the U-haul, to packing whatever he's had time for, to turning on the elctricity in their new place. Cause she has a hard time even making phone calls for things associated with the move.

Nothing is more annoying than showing up to move your friend, and find she is packing things up as you haul them out. And that's if she has the boxes yet. We've had to go scrounge up boxes the day of the move before, no lie.

So in preparation for this move, I've told her to pack NOW. This week. Every night. Has she even picked up boxes? No. She has only those that friends have given her (not nearly enough), and I doubt she's packed a single one. *sigh*

Why do I always say yes when they ask me for help moving??? Why???

Oh my. That doesn't sound terribly fun, although it *does* sound like you are a wonderful friend :)

*sigh* Unfortunately, I've managed to hurt her feelings by pointing out that she doesn't help on these moves. I didn't think I'd said it in a mean way, but she took it personally. And then the other night, when dropping some things off at her new place, this convo took place:

V(my friend), to her husband: "You tell her I help with these moves!"

Husband, looking trapped. "Um...you sort of help, honey."

V, outraged: "I DO help! Give me that air conditioner!"

Husband: "Honey, that's heavy..."

V: "I don't care!" (moves air conditioner, nearly drops it, has to have help from friend #2, L, also there. Sets air conditioner down. "There, see. I help."

(I wisely keep my mouth shut.)

L (looks at me, smiles and shakes her head as she has helped V move more times than I have -- straight faced, looks back at V and says): "Yeah, you've moved your one box quota for the week. Good job."

Understandably, this did not help the situation. *sigh*
