Computer difficulties suck
Jun. 17th, 2005 07:57 amSo last night started off with us unable to connect to the the internet via either of our desktops, which plug into the wireless router via cables, or the laptops, which use the wireless. Two calls to linksys tech support (which appears to be based in either India or the Middle East -- I couldn't quite place which accent it was, but both tech supportists I talked to talked the same way) and two hours of my life later, all computers can connect.
Then I'm watching Doctor Who while also having my fic file open for All the Stars Asunder (which I have neither forgotten about nor given up on -- I am in process of adding to it), and suddenly my computer starts shutting itself off and turning back on. Uh-oh. I know enough to realize that something's overheating, and the computer is trying to save itself. Turns out my power supply is overheating, even though the fan still works. *shrugs* So now I have to go buy a new one.
I hate hate hate computer issues. At least this one is relatively minor.
