It's a freaking epidemic, I tell you!

I saw the movie today again, with my Mom, y'all. My Mom, the least likely person to ever participate in a fandom ever.

After getting over her initial "I can't believe he killed Wash!" reaction, she said: "Now he [Joss] needs to make up for it by getting River and Jayne together."


WTF, world?! Now, because of my mother, of all people, I have this PWP River/Jayne plot bunny that won't go away.

Yes! Very evil. I swear, I did a double take and goggled at my mother right there in the parking lot. I said "You think he should put River with Jayne?" and she said "Well, she's the only one who could possibly put up with him."

Ooh, you must write it! Even I gave in to the Jayne/River and wrote fic way back when...'tis too powerful to resist!

(BTW, if you are bored and want to read my crappy fic, here is a link. "Deck the Airlocks" has some Jayne/River overtones but isn't focused on them (and the rest of the 'ships in the fic--except Wash/Zoe--are totally UC), but "Taking Flight" is straight-up River/Jayne.

Oooooh, I liked it! Excellent Jayne voice. :) My own biggest worry with writing Frielfy fic of any kind are the voices...because it has such a distinctive speech/thought pattern in general, and then for each character specifically.

You have no idea how giddy it makes me that you liked the fic. :) I really, really respect you as a writer, so I'm all smiley and glowy that you like something of mine.

And yes, getting the proper voices for the Firefly characters is scary and hard, and I doubt I could do it now unless I marathoned the series on DVD. They're just not in my head that way anymore.
