rhienellethFirst, I love this show. Still one of my top three shows all season, even over last year's favorite, CSI, because on NCIS we get so much more of the characters' personalities than on many other procedural dramas. I like my stories, whatever the media, character driven.
I like all the characters, but Abby is definitely among my top two, so an Abby-centric episode automatically rates right up there for me. I have a couple of observations and questions, though.
Most importantly: WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH ABBY & MCGEE??!
First we get that comment a couple of eps back, where we find out McGee knows about the coffin Abby sleeps in. Then we get last night, and the toothbrush of Abby's that McGee thought he still had at his place. Why was Abby's toothbrush at McGee's house? I know the ladybug brush wasn't hers, but neither one of them denied the fact that at one time, her toothbrush was there! What does this mean? Why must they deal in cryptic references instead of just telling us straight out! Are we meant to assume that Abby and McGee at one time had a thing, that didn't work out since they don't appear to currently have a thing? Or is there some perfectly reasonable, yet non-romantic reason why her toothbrush could have been there? I can't think of one!
I enjoyed the rest of the show, too, of course. I loved when Abby told Gibbs she didn't tell him about her stalker because she wanted him restrained, not beaten to a bloody pulp with a baseball bat. Awwww. We all know Gibbs, while fond of all his 'children', has a special place in his heart for Abbs.
Although not the same special place he has for the Director, who gets kidnapped next week! I can't wait! Maybe we'll finally get some clear-cut answers about their history, instead of vague references and hints in milli-second long flashbacks.

Date: 2006-04-27 12:51 am (UTC)McGee gets a tattoo in his first ep, because he doesn't think Abby will go out with him otherwise. And they make random comments about each other (there's a great exchange in S2 about McGee's old job and the aforementioned tattoo) and it's clear they have sex, but I don't think they're ever exclusively together. The bright side to that, though, is that they never have a weird breakup, and you can always hope they're having sex and just forgetting to mention it.
