Look at that, just one day can make all the difference. :) Here it is, almost the end of Thursday, and tomorrow I only have to work half a day, and my mood has suddenly drastically improved. It isn't all sunshine and roses yet, but it's much better than yesterday.

I think part of all of this is stress. Mark interviewed for a full time teaching position Monday morning, for Lebanon HS, the school he subbed at for a month at the end of last school year. Now we're waiting to hear, and knowing how these guys work, we probably won't know until just before the school year starts. Then yesterday we found out out that for the other three English positions, they didn't bother interviewing anyone. Instead, they hired people they met for ten minutes at the job fair, and later followed up witha phone conversation in which they offered them the job. No, the only English position they're actually holding interviews for is the one all the other teachers wanted Mark for. (He applied for all four open positions; this was the only one they have considred him for.) I mean, what the hell does that mean? Mark's Mom freaked out and immediately jumped to the conclusion that he should have gone to the job fair. He told her "Mom, what good would that have done? You go to job fairs to meet people, make contacts, get your resume out there, all of which I had already done in spades while working at the high school for a month. I was already told they wanted me for this position. Now I just have to hope they follow through."

Still, I can tell the fact that they didn't interview for the other jobs has him worried. One of the English teachers on staff who's been there the longest called yesterday, furious because she'd just found out he'd interviewed and nobody told her ahead of time, and then furious some more because they didn't offer him the job on the spot.

I'm still of the opinion that since the entire English department wants him hired, he will be. I mean, the administration would have to pretty stupid to piss off a whole department full of teachers, right?

Things will be much better when we know, one way or the other.

[livejournal.com profile] amylud I would have liked nothing better but to chat with you last night. I am so without time this week it isn't even funny. Perhaps this weekend sometime we could hook up on IM? I'm fairly free starting tomorrow afternoon. :)

[livejournal.com profile] cincnorad *gasp*!!! You're alive! (Heh. Kidding, I knew that. Just busy as always, eh? I'm going to e-mail you this weekend, unless you're free sometime to chat over IM?)

As always, thanks to everyone for your love and support. [livejournal.com profile] carmen_sandiego and [livejournal.com profile] mspooh, your comments made me smile, no small feat yesterday.
