...in this post. I'm tired of being all serious and somber and sad.

Remember how I said my coffee obsession would never go into the realm of home roasting? Well the guy I purchased my Rocky grinder from insisted on sending half a pound of green (unroasted) beans with it. I told him I don't roast my own, so he didn't need to, and he sent them anyway. He sent me an e-mail saying it's a shame I don't home roast, and it's so easy and inexpensive to do, and it will save you at least 40% on your coffee cost, and fresh roasted will taste soooooooooooo much better than anything you've had before. Then he gave me intructions on how to try it via an air pop popcorn popper.

So I guess I'm going to try it. I mean, he's sending the beans for free, and I already have an air popper. I'll be sure to post and let you all know how it turns out next week, once I have the grinder and everything. I'm sure everyone is just so interested in my coffee explorations. :)

We're having dinner with some friends tomorrow night, as they are moving to San Diego next week so he can pursue his Doctorate in math. Yes, math. As someone who rejoiced when she finished the last math class she'd ever have to take, it boggles me how very smart he must be. I never even ventured into the realms of trig and calculus, thank goodness. Anyway, we are very sad to see them go, and as their entire family is here, they plan to move back when he schooling is done, but I suspect that will depend on where he gets a job more than anything. Apparently the field he's entering is very specialized. The plan is dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Sol De Mexico (yum, their salsa is amazing!), and possibly to see The Constant Gardener, even though it's playing only at the old theater without the stadium seating. I'm looking forward to the movie, as I love Ralph Fiennes, and don't think he gets nearly enough credit as an actor. He just seems to fly kind of under the radar, and really, I think he's one of the best actors, skill-wise, in Hollywood today.

Bought Sahara the other day. I really hope they make a sequel. It's just a fun adventure movie in the same style as Indiana Jones. It did better than a lot of movies lately, but not as well as it should have.

Speaking of which, if you didn't see Cinderella Man in theaters, you should when it comes to DVD in December. Seriously, it broke my heart how poorly this movie did in theaters. It was such a powerful story, and a really true look at what it was like for our grandparents and great-grandparents during the Depression. One of Ron Howard's best, and for some reason no one went to see it.

The plan for tonight? I don't know, but I'm not cooking. :)
