Random update-y stuff
Sep. 7th, 2005 09:41 am- Why, oh why, is LJ displaying everything on my f-list in bold? Highly annoying and makes me think everyone is talking very aggressively in their posts when I know they're not.
- The Constant Gardener spoiler-free response: OMG so slooooooooow and booooooring, and filmed in a very disjointed fashion. I have no idea if it was true to the book or not. And I still love Ralph Fiennes to pieces. The actors did a good job with the material they had, but the pace of the movie was insanely slow and even though we the audience knew where it was going early on, it took the characters forever to get there. Not to mention all the various shots of birds in flight and landscape scenery that was somehow supposed to be evocative of...something. Ugh.
This continues our unfortunate string of bad movies lately. I am very disappointed, and can only hope that the rest of September will bring better movie going experiences.
- Hmm. So we're into Fall TV. Soon my favorite shows will have their season premieres (CSI! Lost!), and I'm sort of at a loss over which new shows to watch. I caught a preview for Bones that intrigued me despite myself. Maybe I can mentally disengage the show from the books, and refrain from associating this Tempe Brennan with that Tempe Brennan. Because the lead actress has some serious chemistry with David Boreanaz in that preview. A whole lot of supernatural-esque shows this season, most of which I'm afraid will be horrible, having been created and written by people hoping to capitalize on the genre, rather than people who love the genre to begin with.
Give me recs, people! What other shows should I set my VCR for this month?
- I feel like crap today. I don't usually get bad cramps, but apparently this month is special. The only good thing I can think of resulting from this is the surety that I am not, in fact, pregnant. Um, yay? In the meantime, when I feel like crap my tolerance for people drops down to less than zero. I become irrationally irritated by things that might normally simply amuse me. Must remember to watch my tone.
- I can't remember who for sure, but I think maybe
sorcha_feanor turned me on to getting a Firefly T-shirt from cafe press to wear to Serenity on opening night. I can't seem to find just the right Jayne one, though, and it must be Jayne. :) I'll keep browsing and post a link if I decide on one.
