The good news: my wrist feels all better! Back to jewelry making tonight!

The bad news: my Tivo is broken! :(

No, seriously, guys. This is a calamity of EPIC FAIL. It started out as this odd static coming from the speakers, and then it went away. And then last night it came back, with a vengeance, and all the little "bee-boop, beep, and beebops" from the Tivo menu suddenly sound high pitched, tinny, and wrong. The Xbox and dvd plays just fine, no static, no strange noises. Everything is hooked up through the same receiver, and only when the sound is set for the Tivo is there a problem. The static isn't static (heh) - when I watch a recorded show, I can stop, rewind, and play the same scene over, and the static will crackle at different times, ergo, it is not a sound coming in with the cable signal.

At the moment, I'm PRAYING it is simply the RCA jacks themselves going bad (we tried a different RCA cord. No dice.) Because on my lunch I'm going to the store to buy some component cables. If the static goes away, that means it was just the jacks, and not, say, the internal soundcard. Eeep!

There's the fact that now is the really wrong time for our Tivo to die - we don't have the extra cash at the moment to just buy another, particularly another with built in DVD burner, which is the one we have. Then there's the even worse fact that OMG, you guys, SPN is on tonight! A pivotal episode from the looks of it.

Please, please, just be the RCA jacks going out. Component will be better picture and sound anyway. *hopes like mad*

Does anyone want this little guy?

Adopt one today!

I picked him up to save him from the glut of green on the abandoned page, and even though I don't really want a green, I can't bring myself to abandon him to possibly die.

Let's face it, I am no fan of these books. I never finished reading the entire series, and sold off my copies on Amazon Marketplace as soon as I could. I am no fan of sparkly!Edward, or mopy!Bella.

But lo, look at that picture. That is Cam Gigandet, people. And he's playing the villain. (What? Yes, I have a 'type'.)

I googled him once long ago when I stumbled across The OC one night. As in, my TV was on, and I happened to look up from the homework or whatever I was doing long enough to witness this uber-hot scene with this guy I'd never heard of, and the anorexic looking chick who stars on the show. And I was all "Holy moly, who is this guy??" It was that hot, people. For real.

And here he is. In a role that is most likely going to place him on the map, and make people unfamiliar with the books everywhere go "Why is Bella with Edward instead of this amazing hot James guy again?" Or possibly not, since James is pretty much a sociopath and has no romantic interest in Bella (and why would he?)

What's really amazing, is James of the books is supposed to be "unremarkable" looking, for a vampire. Dude, that pic above does not even do Cam justice. I'm wondering how he ended up cast as this guy, when he's going to end up making him all hot and charismatic. I'm assuming.

So. *cough*

Say someone (me, maybe) was thinking about experimenting with podcasting. Say this person has even gone so far as to get a fairly decent start up package of gear.

What would you actually be tempted to listen to me talk about? Writing? Fanfic? Fandom? Jewelry? (Although I'm not sure how I'd actually talk about that.) What questions would you ask me?

I have a couple of reasons for experimenting thusly.

1. I find podcasts in general fascinating and oddly warm and fuzzy to listen to. And there aren't enough of them that talk about the things I am interested in. And I feel like none of the writing ones ever address fandom or fanfic. Ever.

2. I am working my way up to possibly podcasting Dark Vision and/or some short stories. I am really, really uncomfortable reading my own stuff to people. I NEED to get over that. I want to be the sort of author that gives good and interesting readings, not lame and uncomfortable and boring ones. Recording myself reading will help me become a better reader (and probably a better writer), and if no one ever wants to publish DV, podcasting may be a good way for me to get it out there anyway. We'll see. That's down the road, maybe.

Anyway. I've been thinking about it and drawn to the idea for some months, now. It didn't go away as much as I tried to make it. I bought a decent starter setup. I cleaned up my computer desk to clear a space to set up as a home recording studio. I have experimented, and to my shock, I don't utterly hate the sound of my own voice. (Seriously. I used to.)

So.

What would you think was interesting to talk about? Topic ideas? Questions you'd ask, or want answered? Thoughts? If I'm going to get serious about this, I need to decide what I want my podcast to focus on. And I'd probably need some starter topics for the first few episodes, or something.

(If you knew me RL, you'd know how completely OOC this is for me. I don't do recordings, or pictures, or anything.)
