So, since I haven't read the comic in...forever, what ever happened with the "Gambit's blind" storyline of a couple years ago? (Yes, occassionally I pick up an issue and leaf through it at Borders.)  What's up with Gambit and Rogue these days? (In the main book, not the alternate storyline book "Ultimate".  I know what happens to Gambit there.)

Also, can anyone point me to some good G/R fic?

And lastly, how do you fic writers deal with the odd continuity issues inherent in the long running X-title(s)?  This is one of the reasons I stopped reading the comics.  Writing that re-writes character histories, inexplicably ignores plot points until they vanish as if never written, destroys character personalities, etc.  Difficut enough to write fic in a fandom where canon is easy to follow, but to do so for the X-books...I'm just wondering how you all handle it.

And while we're at it, what about Wolverine?  Arguably my favorite character, I stopped reading when Magneto ripped out his adamantium skeleton, though I know he gained it back some issues (years?) later somehow...so what's up with him currently?  *is curious for curiousity's sake*

If you don't know the answers to these questions, but someone on your f-list might, feel free to point them this way.  Obviously X3 has put me in a state of X-nostalgia.

I don't do comicverse, I only do movieverse. Comicverse is just way too confusing for me.

It's simpler for movieverse. Hugh Jackman + Anna Paquin = Happy!Lex. :->

Hard to blame you - the comicverse is confusing as hell, even when I was actively reading all the titles. :)

Just because I feel the need to follow Lex around LJ today and stick my tongue out at her...it's ALL about the comic!verse. :-).

And, personally, I'd love a G/R update, too! I haven't read the main X title since Rogue was leading one of the teams and, yeah, I think Gambit may have been blind because she was demanding he stay home from missions.

Welcome! Yeah, it's really hard for me to get behind Rogue/Logan in movie fandom (or Rogue/Bobby, for that matter), because in my mind, Rogue is and always will be destined for Gambit. I mean, look at every other incarnation - every Rogue in the "alternate X-verses" ends up with Gambit, and even in the cartoon there was a little somethin' somethin' between them.

Not that I'm a hopeless romantic, or anything.

Hee! I'm sorry I just hopped in to your LJ like a wacko!

But, yeah, I'm a hopeless romantic about Rogue and Gambit, too. For me, they're just an absolute bulletproof OTP, every incarnation, every AU, BOTH cartoons, etc. I can't 'ship that little whiny emo Rogue in the films with Logan because it doesn't work for me. It can't. And because she's little, whiny and emo. LOL. Where's my brassy belle with the huge boobs, hmm?

No apologies necessary, all are welcome here. Especially G/R shippers who also happen to be friends of Lex. :) I have hopes that as she "matures" movie Rogue will become more like comic-Rogue. I mean, what teenager doesn't whine, right?

Post-X3 I've had about five thousand conversations discussing why exactly movie!Rogue is unacceptable as Rogue, which pretty much just resulted in re-OTPing myself re: Rogue/Gambit and my writing an overly long movieverse fic (even though I never, ever write movieverse) for the sole puepose of introducing Gambit and making Rogue not suck.

It's kind of sad, really.

?! You wrote fic on the subject? Where? I've been searching and searching for exactly that. Must have linkage!

Gambit and non-whiny Rogue? You are so my new best friend.

It's not quite finished yet!

Hmm. Which, I guess means that I probably shouldn't have mentioned it! But it seemed topical.

I was actually enabled in the exercise by another friend of mine who is actually IN movieverse fandom (which I have never really been because, much like you, I cannot deal with most of the movieverse pairings) who informed me that it really did not exist in the fic. Which I found both surprising and depressing!

I hope this does not disqualify me as a potential friend! Because after looking at your interests and icons, I feel that perhaps WE ARE MEANT TO BE.

Are you kidding? Because I have already friended you at the mere mention of movie-verse R/G fic, which I am NOT MISSING when it gets posted, whenever that shall be. (To say nothing of the shared BSG/Firefly/DW love, which I can see we have in common from the briefest of glances at your info page.)

Okay, good, because I have friended you as well.

Also the fic posting should be...soonish!

I am also terribly fond of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I don't know firsthand, because I supposedly kicked the comics habit a year or so ago, but I still flit about Wikipedia every so often to check up on baby's first OTP.

As far as I can gather, the whole blindness thing went away a while ago. They were together, but Mystique was trying to break them up and hook Rogue up with some new guy. Then Gambit became a horseman of Apocalypse (Death to be exact) but he's still in love with Rogue through all the brainwashing and failed at killing her or summat.

Oh God. This is so exactly a direct example of why I kicked the comic habit. A horseman of Apocalypse? Maybe the story works better than it sounds...what have they done to my Cajun king of thieves?!

YEAH. I dunno.

Like I said, I have no firsthand information.

But then I tend to not get up in arms about whatever random crack happens in comics because, well, just wait a while and it'll go away. I also find waiting until a storyline is over before deciding whether to bother reading it is also a nice practice if one is going to read any major titles.

Too true. Plus, graphic novels are easier to store on the bookshelves. :)
