Jun. 17th, 2006 04:44 pmI am not normally a fan of Keanu Reeves' acting. Ok, so he did fine in The Matrix trilogy and Speed, because those characters weren't exactly overflowing with emotion. (And damn, his arms looked good in Speed - I need to rewatch that movie, I think.) But when it comes to movies like, say, A Walk in the Clouds? Yeah, he just can't sell me on the romance. His acting becomes wooden and his dialogue unbelievable.
However, I may now have to eat my words. Because The Lake House? I really, really liked it. It's as good a love story as Somewhere in Time, and I have to admit I teared up a little at the end. I'm not going to say anything else so I don't spoil anyone, but you should go see it. Mark loved it, too, and he's much harder to please in the romantic movie department than I am. (Even though he likes some romantic movies, he makes fun of my Jane Austen obsession, for instance. He can't undertsand why I must own every version of P&P that's ever been made - his words, not mine. I don't own them all! Just...four, no five versions if you count Bridget Jones.)
Anyway, go watch The Lake House.
