Oh. Oh no.

I was not expecting that, not at all. Oh dear. Character deaths are always hard, but especially so when they're unexpected. But it works. It really, really works.

I hope the book will not end on too much of a "down" note, now.

Well, Mercy is pretty safe, being the POV character. LOL. And I will offer this much reassurance - none of Mercy's present or future Consorts die in this book.
