Yeah, so I have just over 1000 words of Consort. That's it. Most of the beginning is GONE.

I think I'm going to have to start it completely differently now, but i'll try to save what little I have and use it elsewhere, later. I like that scene between Atrea and Mercy a lot.

And beginnings are, of course, the hardest part for me. I have to start over, and I'm so mad at myself I want to scream.

Have you looked into using a different word processing program? Because something has got to be wrong with the one you've got, for it to keep doing this to you.

It's MS Word, and it's never done this before in all the years I've used it. I mean sure, I lost the first few paragraphs before, but that was when Word crashed and I hadn't saved (I have since changed the saving preferences).

This was just random and inexplicable...although consensus seems to be it could very well be my thumb drive, corrupted. So today I'll be buying a new one, and I haven't saved anything to that thumb drive since discovering this fiasco.

I admit I am a creature of habit. When I got my MacBook, I bought Office for Mac because I hated the other word processing options out there compared to Word. But then, I've also been using Word for...I don't know. Twenty years?

Ooo, it could be the thumb drive. I hadn't considered that. *eyes her own thumb drive warily* I guess in the future, save to as many places possible. But then I'm sure you already know that. And I'm with you on the Word loyalty.

Btw, sorry I still haven't gotten back to you on my beta notes for Nemesis. It's just been one thing after another lately. I'm going to try and get to it this weekend; it's the first weekend I get all to myself in two months.
