I don't like having my pic taken.  It's a thing I'm trying to get over.  My friend L took these, and I was like "Geez, how many are you taking??"  And she was all "About twenty, cause you'll only end up keeping maybe two of them.  I know you."

She was mostly right.  I only really kept three. 

Now, it's only mostly done.  The sleeves aren't attached, and I'm not done trimming them.  My wig isn't done, either.  But for the most part, my costume is finished.

My sister is making me laugh.  We actually just discovered our mututal guilty addiction to ANTM, and were laughing about Tyra's rampant CRAZY. 



I am mostly including this one, because you can glimpse my disaster of a sewing room living room scattered behind me.  Fabric and costume and pattern pieces, oh my!  Also, we call this the "Disney room".  It's where we hang all of our Disney prints and keep our curio cabinets.


Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my costume.  Obviously, I'll post better pics when its really done and I'm in full wig/make up.  My panniers turned out perfectly, and really give the costume that extra something.  :-)

Thanks! Sewing is a lot like some jewelry making - it takes patience, and a lot of steps to get to the finished product, but if you have the patience, you can produce some really cool things. :)

So far, this is my favorite of all the costumes I've made. :)

Thank you. :) Pink isn't normally my color, but this was $20/yard fabric I picked up on clearance for $2.50/yard some time ago. I had no idea what I was going to do with it at the time, but when this costume came about, it was the first thing I thought of.

It's funny. My friend L's costume is similar, but she's doing deep red and black. We will totally clash if we stand next to one another!

OMG! The gown is fabulous! The sleeves! I love how they drape. And the, er...underskirt-y part (I really suck at all things sewing, even the terms) is made with gorgeous material. I squinted at the pictures in order to imagine a wig in place and I think that will be the icing on the cake. With all those cool tones of pink and silvery details you've chosen, the white wig will be perfect. You are going to look amazing.

And I totally understand about not liking your picture taken. I am notorious for that, much to my family's dismay, so I thank you for allowing it and showing them to us.

Nice hardwood floor, btw. What? I notice these things. ;)

The sleeves - these were actually the second attempt at them. The flounces (the frilly drapy part) were just gathered in the pattern, but I hated the way they lay when I made them. When I was pleating the skirts, it gave me the idea to pleat the flounces (layering the fabric by folding it). Now they drape perfectly and lay just right!


Underskirt is exactly the right term! And the skirt is reversible - the other side reverses the colors, so the flowers are silver and the background is pink, but that was just TOO MUCH pink, so I went with the mostly silver side. You are right - I think the white wig will be the perfect finshing touch! Oh, and white make up for me. :)

Oh, the floors are actually fake - a Pergo type snap in, but still waaaaaaaay better than carpet down a high traffic hallway! My husband wants real hardwood in the next house, as the fake doesn't "feel" the same.

Thanks! Not normally my color, but the fabric was too fabulous a deal to pass up at the time, and it is very pretty. Pink was always my sister's favorite color. If she wasn't two sizes smaller than me, she'd have probably stolen the dress from me by now. :-)
