Sooooooooooo....keeping in mind in my head, I've utterly divorced this series from the books.  I don't remember the details of them that well (although they are currently on my kindle, waiting to be re-read), and I don't think the show is going to stick too closely to them, anyway.  I think it suffers a bit from Twilight-itis.  However, the vampires here are at least a bit more manly than the vampires there.  Not that it takes much.

So, Vampire Diaries.  I really like it.  I mean, it's bad, right?  But I still really like it.

It has Ian Somer-whatever being snarky and evil and smoldering when he looks at...well, anyone.  Even Stefan (says the non-slash writer).  Just sayin'.

It has cool side characters like Bonnie - why isn't she the main character, again?  Girl has visions, or the Sight or something.  That's better than Elena, who just looks like someone's centuries dead ex-girlfriend. *eye roll*  I am so far not much of an Elena/Stefan fan.  Truth be told, I actually liked Matt best - guy's the steady, strong, quiet type.  He'd be a keeper, and he deserves better than to be the human guy hung up on Lana Lang Elena. (What?  She kinda looks like her.  And acts like her.  Which may also be why I'm not warming to her much.)

But!  There is Damon.  "Cocky much?"  "Very much."  Yeah.  I like.

Also, they have a fog machine.  I was pretty much hooked from the moment the opening scene started.  In the woods.  With the ground covered in very obviously man made fog.  With the Doomed Couple making out in the tent.  AHahahahahahaha!

What?  DON'T JUDGE ME!

I find this show DELIGHTFULLY entertaining in its terribleness.

I was basically only watching it because I love bad vampire crap and it has Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, but it stole my heeeart. It somehow ended up making me exile Bones to the non-HD DVR in the rec room?! IDEK.

LOLOLOL!

Yeah. It has a strange and terrible power. Actually, it reminds me a bit of Buffy S1, which wasn't exactly awesomeness personified, either. It has potential. :D

Oh, yeah. I went to sleep last night with stupid fic thoughts running around in my head, all having to do with Damon, to no one's surprise, I'm sure.

It's a weakness. I need an icon, now. *goes off to search*

Hehe. I'm kinda digging the show too. (Even if I'm totally over the vampire days. BtVS was ages ago, keep up people. Don't be fooled by the Robert-Twilight-Kristen nonsense!)

Ian is much love. Stefan/Elena bores me. But Damon/Elena might actually perk Elena up a little bit. Maybe.
