Friday Five, with a twist:

Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post.

I haven't yet watched the SPN finale. I actually brought it with me to work burned to DVD, with the husband's permission to watch it without him, because I complained last night that I couldn't possibly go online without having seen it, for fear of being spoiled. So. I will be watching it on my break/lunch/whatever, and until then, will not be looking at y'all's posts about it. I'm actually sort of scared to even read my f-list this morning, for fear someone might have posted something too suggestive without a cut.

I did watch the finale of Bones. they ran the damn show long - I HATE THAT. My Tivo, wisely, switched over to record SPN at precisely 9:00pm, as it knows which show has more priority from me. However, I still missed the very last scene. I saw spoilers )

Of the embarrassing number of movie scores we own, approximately two hundred of them are on my ipod (not even half - this is why the 80G was necessary. 30G wasn't actually enough.) Of those, with all of them on random shuffle, this is the order of songs my iPod chose to play this morning:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean - Swords Crossed (otherwise known as the track that plays while Will and Jack fight in the Blacksmith's shop. When Jack says, famously, "Pirate!" in answer to Will's accusation of cheating.)

2. Galaxy Quest - I believe it was the track about the Omega 13, but I could be wrong.

3. Battlestar Galactica - I have no idea what track, from which of the three seasons that are on there. But it was very definitely BSG.

I feel as though my iPod is speaking to me - this ordering of tracks seems designed to tell me that today will be an auspiciously successful writing day on telepathic space pirates. Hee!

Yesterday was the Great Move at work. Actually, it went pretty painlessly for me. I have a window, and they let me keep my desk, which has a custom made keyboard tray in place of the middle drawer that is perfect for my height. Also, several computers were laying about our new space, so I was able to cannibalize a new mouse to replace the broken one I had been using (the cursor would randomly just take off across my screen all the time), and a new keyboard to replace the old one I had, with the letters half worn off so you couldn't read them. AND I found a keyboard wrist pad that fits my little tray perfectly.

Plus, the new space is quiet, and I have in building access to restrooms - no more having to walk outside into the weather to get to the women's restroom! All in all, I came out pretty well. :-)

Because of the move, though, I barely made it online at all. So I never got the chance to post my latest jewelry pics.

Pics! )

More pics and info at the Etsy store.

Ow. My headache from yesterday has not gone away, despite my acupuncturist working on the knots in my shoulders and neck. :(

Surprise, surprise - we've been given a two hour early dismissal today due to it being a holiday weekend. And they actually said everyone, not just the feds vs. us lowly contractors. Who-Hoo!

Of course, that also means I've got to work harder on words today to achieve my goal before I leave. :)

We will be seeing Indy 4 tonight, unless the husband is too sick. He was feeling poorly this morning, but when I suggested that might mean staying home tonight, he was aghast at the very idea. "It's Indy," he said, looking at me incredulously. Oh, okay then. I guess all he has to do is sit upright in a theater seat.

I woke up with a headache this morning. It's time for another massage, I can tell. My neck and shoulders are tight. *sigh* I'll just pop some ibuprofen for now, and hope that helps enough for me to write without too much problem.

My moss amethyst necklace sold this morning. :D It's been a slow month for Etsy sales, but at the same time, the things that have sold have been higher price items. Strange, but I'm definitely not complaining.

First, thank God it's Friday - no, seriously! This week has not been terribly fun.

What, no GJP today? Nope, because I actually did not make anything last night! Both too wiped out from my week, and too busy doing housework for our out-of-town guests arriving today.

I am, however, super excited about the gem and bead show I'm going to tomorrow. Sparklies!

In the meantime, I am rolling up my sleeves and inserting scenes into previous book text today. I would be interested in having a fresh beta reader read the first three or so chapters, at least, to tell me if the POV switch flows well, or if a current beta reader wants to volunteer to go back and reread, that would serve, too...I just don't want to structure this all the way through, only to end up having to go back and remove them because they don't work.

I worked out the what and where of the POV switches in the shower this morning, so hopefully this won't take long to fix.

Friday!

Things about which I am ridiculously happy today:

~ not only is it Friday, it's payday.

~ [livejournal.com profile] kistha is driving down to see me this weekend! she arrives about the time I get off work, and then the husband and I will drag her to our favorite mexican place for dinner. Then, Mark is off to play paintball all day tomorrow, and [livejournal.com profile] kistha and I are off to hang out with L and the rest of the girls.

~ which leads me to, my birthday RPG, which L is running. She texted me this morning to say "I have the storyline. Let me say now, I'm very sorry, and I only put your characters through these things because I know you can hack it." Um, yay? But seriously, I am very excited. i haven't had a roleplay day with the girls since...well, in months.

~ And then Sunday, our good D&D group is getting together for roleplay with Mark and I. So, lots and lots of RPGing this weekend. Which really means good company, good food, and lots of fun and laughing. :D

~ I'm sure I'll fit some jewelry stuff in there somewhere. I have ordered jewelry polishing/buffing attachments for my dremel, which means soon I will be able to polish up that ring I made to a mirror shine, among other things (I hope!) I also ordered a couple of metalsmithing books to make this whole teaching-myself-to-solder business less painful (I hope!) AND, I broke down and ordered a new planishing hammer, though I also really, really need the large and small embossing hammers, too. I just can't justify getting them right now. My cheapie hammer is done. I made some earrings last night, and it was barely functional at all. I think all the Egyptian coiling I did killed it, LOL. So, I had to get a new hammer, thus the justification of the planishing hammer. But the others, they'll just have to wait.

The latest chapter of space pirates has been difficult to write. It's an emotionally difficult scene for Mercy, my MC, which somehow translates into 'hard to write' for me, the author. But I think I'll be finishing it today, to yay for that, too. :)

Good morning, F-list!

It's Friday, and I don't think I've ever been happier about a Friday ever. God, this week was long. Work sucked, sick cat, sick husband, dog sitting for the in-laws, long writing hours and problems posting completed work that kept me up far too late mid-week...yeah, I'm ready for the weekend. Mark is still feeling miserable enough that our glamorous plans for the evening include ordering chinese food, and catching him up on the rest of Supernatural S3. (Thanks bunches [livejournal.com profile] angel_grace, the DVDs arrived safe and sound! Would you like a jewlery something-or-other in return?)

I was so tired last night, I ended up barely starting the earrings and then setting them down. Just blah. I'll finish them tonight.

I think today I'm going to spend some time working on my LJ layout. I wish I had better graphic skills to make the banner I want, but I'll see what I can manage. (Unless some graphics-expert would like to volunteer services?)

Also, the last time I tried to change anything on my layout, I lost my banner because LJ has changed the 'customize layout' menus and now I have no idea what I'm doing again. I barely had any idea before. So this could be really, really fun (in a totally not fun way). Wish me luck.

Dinner last night was surprisingly not awful! I really enjoyed talking with the couple. He's a first year English teacher, and his wife is also going into teaching. They're younger than us by about ten years, but that didn't make any difference. Turns out they want to write some sort of educational non-fiction curriculum book or something. Which...nonfiction is so not my game. I have no real idea how to even proceed, except I know you have to have a really strong proposal now for nonfiction projects, and writing is still writing - "apply butt to chair, write" is still the single best advice of ever. Anyway, we didn't actually get much writing talk done, because two teachers talking shop...well, it dominated the conversation. Dinner also was not bad, not great, but nothing like my last awful experience. Thank goodness.

And lastly, a scan of my f-list doesn't seem to find many of you striking today. Halleluia! I was worried it would be a ghost town.

My boots will arrive today! Whoo-hoo! I can't wait to see how they fit/feel. I already know they look fabulous. :)

Tonight, L and I are going to see a local production of Taming of the Shrew. She won tickets through her work. Tomorrow, Mark and I are going to spend a much needed day together. We haven't had that since before we got the bad news, and I think some personal time will be good for us. And on Sunday, we're getting massages! Our friend Jess who's a massage therapist is going to do a housecall. :-D I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to that. SO MUCH!!

It's like that voiceover on Gauntlet, that's always "Red Sorceress needs food badly." Except it reads "Emotionally stressed Rhien needs massage badly."

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it.

And it's Friday. That's a plus.

Hmm, I hear rumor of a new SPN promo that exists, but heck if i can find it anywhere. Anyone?

Yay!  It's Friday, and I am in such a good mood.  Not that I have any particularly good reason why I should be, what with Mark doing a seminar this weekend and thus taking the entire weekend for martial arts, and also thus having a dozen people or so descend upon our house as weekend house guests, but inexplicably, I am.  They're all very nice people, anyway.  Seriously, you have never seen such polite house guests as these.

And because of this, right now, this very second, house elves are cleaning my house for me!  That's right, elves.  Bet you wish you had your own, right?  Well, I can't get too excited, as this is a one time thing, but still, when I get home from work, the "public" part of the house will be nice and sparkly clean, and all I'll have to do is ready the guest room and clean our bedroom/bathroom.  Enough of a reason for me to be happy today, I'm thinking.

Plus, right after Mark gets home from work, we are leaving for Portland - him, so he can go and train with some of the people who are coming to the seminar - they're a buyu group he inherited after their instructor moved to Colorado - and yes, my husband is crazy when it comes to martial arts.  He has no problem driving an hour and a half to train a bunch of people less than twelve hours before they're going to be driving down to train with him.  Me, on the other hand, he's going to drop off at my friend Paula's house, so us girls can spend some quality jewelry making time together.  :)  She wants to learn how to chainmaille, and I've got a bracelet in a new weave I'm working on.

I need to order more rings for new stuff, but I've promised myself I wouldn't until I sell some of what I already have.  Restraint, restraint, restraint.  Noooooo problem.

Speaking of which, my Mom has a glass artist friend who apparently just opened up her own shop, and might be interested in carrying some of my jewelry on consignment.  I need to set up an appointment to show her some of what I have.  I also need to figure out how to use the graphic - or at least the lotus - in [profile] byzantium_lotus's header for business cards.  How does that work, does anyone know?  You take a pic in and say "I want this on my cards"?  Hmm.
