Sep. 7th, 2006 09:38 amWho likes green this season? I've got the most beautiful peridot I'm making a necklace and earrings with. You know when the ocean looks really, really green, but is also almost translucent in the little swells and waves? It's like that. I started the necklace last night, but had to stop in order to, you know, sleep. But tonight I am totally finishing it! I love it.
And no, it's not the peridot I ordered the other day, which should still be on it's way to me. I had to go to the used book store yesterday, which is right across the street from the bead shop. And since I'd sold a couple boxes of books (making room on the shelves, you know), I had $ in my pocket when I went in. Always a dangerous combination. And I was really regretting not getting some rondelles along with the briolettes I ordered, so I just looked at the peridot rondelles in the display case - which were exorbitantly overpriced and too damn expensive for me. Luckily, they had some smaller, but still verrrrry pretty ones hanging up behind a bunch of citrine on the wall. The strand might have been incorrectly priced, but I didn't point that out to the sales girl.
They look something like this, but with a slightly deeper green:

And no, my necklace will look nothing like this. I'm not doing a strand. It'll have a lot more silver, a little chain, some beateous green peridot rondelles, and maybe a couple of sparkly, cushion cut lemon quartz dangling. :)
Anyway, long story short, I spent quite a bit of time when I got home just admiring the general prettiness of the beads. Then I figured out two different projects for them, and started on the first. :)
Haven't watched Bones yet - was distracted by visiting our friends and their three week old baby girl. Little Ilea is so cute! But I'll get to it tonight, probably.
OT:
kistha, I am somewhat worried and hope you've just been busier even than usual (I haven't seen you post or comment since the monkey post.) So I have to ask: did the monkey get you?? I am only half joking with that, mind. Your reply back about the dangers of working with them was very scary, so drop me a comment to let me know all is well.
