So yes, today is 'moving day', and yet, at the last possible moment, I have completely sidestepped helping my friends move. And I had nothing personally to do with it. Well, directly.

See, Mark is leaving for the weekend. We -- my friends that are moving, and those of us helping them move -- have plans to get together tonight and watch movies or something. Our six month old puppy cannot be trusted wandering the house while I am gone, as she still has accidents from time to time, which means she has to be kenneled when Mark and I are both gone.

There is no way she can be in her kennel all day, all evening, and who knows how late into the night. Even if I came home to let her out for an hour, putting her back in for an extended time would not be acceptable.

I asked my mother-in-law if she could watch her, but she's gone all day and evening as well. So, it seems I have been voted by all of my friends to stay home with the dog during the day, and then when they're all done moving, I'll kennel her and go and cook dinner for all of my exhausted friends. :) See, works for everyone.

I figured out how to make mini movie icons, as you can see from my brand spankin new Ever After icon. Which I'm not sure I'm satisfied with. Sure, it was an experiment, but still. The colors look a little bright or something. I don't know. what do you all think? Any icon makers out there with suggestions?

Edited to add: the new layout is a freebie courtesy of Eyecandy layouts.

Hee! That is a beautiful plan!

Speaking of cooking, is your kitchen outfitted or do you still need stuff? I need to get you guys a [belated] housewarming gift and since I know you love the kitchen... Well, don't be afraid to drop any hints *g*

Hi Rhien!

What made you decide to friend me back? :)

About the mini movie - I missed your question. Do you still need advice? I think it looks sweet. It is colorful, but with the brown and blue it has a fairy-tale-like look, so that's fitting, with the wings and all.

What style were you going for? There is *lots* you can do about colors. :)

What is it from (*ignorant me*)?

It's from the movie Ever After, a Cinderella story starring Drew Barrymore. :)

Actually, I do still have some questions! How do people put borders around the mini-movie in the icons? I use photoshop 7 for all my icon making stuff, and I cannot figure it out. I may have more questions, but I'm at work and not thinking of them right now.

And the colors are growing on me -- I think I just happened to pick a scene with really bright, vibrant hues in it, and didn't realize it until the icon was all done.

As to friending you -- I have a habit of not looking to see who's friended me for long periods of time. I just forget. And then I go and look, and there's all these people to add! :)

The *only* way for me to make mini movies is to use ImageReady. Everything else takes too long... I am not sure if ImageReady is actually *part* of Photoshop, but it definitely belongs together somehow. You can switch from Photoshop to ImageReady (and back!) using the lowest button on the tools palette.

It lets you create animations from layers, so you only have to put your movie into the photoshop document, each frame on a separate layer. (I made a batch action for that)

When you are in ImageReady, you just tell it to "create frames from layers". Afterwards, the layers are still there and can be manipulated. And you can add each layer to be displayed in any frame you want.

So you put another layer on top of the rest, with the border in. Then select all animation frames, and make that layer visible in all of them. That's it.

What I haven't figured out is how to make scrolling text without duplicating it on each layer. That would be really nifty.
