Spring!

It's that time of year, again! Sun, rain, pretty flowers, and time for me to get my spring/summer handbag!

I have come to the conclusion that it is nigh impossible to find cute, low heeled white boots or pumps, despite the fact that it is spring and I found two awesome white jackets at Burlington this weekend. One is a short, fitted vinyl jacket (ie fake leather, but for $23 I couldn't pass it up), and the other is long, with a tailored line and is kind of a soft white/ivory patterned fabric. I got it for $25.

But it is still too cold out for sandals or similar, and black shoes/boots just don't work with white jackets. I did find some absolutely gorgeous oxford-esque pumps that I would kill for, but the heels on them are 3 1/4 inches! I can barely survive in 2 inch heels, curse my genetic history of bad arches. They are so fantastic I'm seriously considering spending the $150 on them anyway, and only wearing them for very short time periods, but then the realist in me slaps me upside the head and says not to waste perfectly good money on shoes I can't even really wear.



Why can they not design super awesomely cute shoes like this with 2 inch heels?? Even 2 1/2? Why must all the truly adorable shoes be 3-4 inches? It's simply not fair. :(













So, my spring purse is arriving today. :) It's sky blue/white patterned python, with lots of pockets everywhere. Oh heck, words don't do it justice. Here's a pic:



I'm very excited. :) Though apparently sky blue wallets are as rare as white boots. *sigh* Why does Kathy Van Zeeland seem to not offer matching wallets with her purses? This is not rocket science - every other handbag designer knows enough to make matching wallets (though usually for outrageous prices.)

So, spring wardrobe accessories? Check.

My Mom read a bunch more of the book and talked to me about it yesterday. She commented on what I already knew was a problem: the first half - three quarters has some pacing issues I need to fix. She gave me some good thoughts on how to do that and include more character stuff for Adric and Dom so they don't seem quite as side-character-ish. She also thinks Elysia is over-confident and thus not super likeable. I think I'll wait for other beta feedback before deciding she's right, but Mom is pretty discerning about such things. She thinks adding a couple of vampire kills into the first couple chapters will add weight to the character's confidence, and she's probably right.

I should have made her wait to tell me this stuff until after I was done with the first draft, though. Cause now I just want to go back and fix this stuff, and I won't let myself. "Complete first draft" is number one, fix things is number two!

She hasn't yet gotten to really explicit scenes, or the wolves. Though she's about to.

Oh, and one minor fannish thing rant.

God, this show pisses me off! A Samantha-centric episode, and the show completely ignores her history with Martin, as though it never happened! First the show seems to forget the relationship exists, though we never saw them "break up". (I guess we were meant to assume that his stupid drug addiction storyline was the end of them? Whatever. That story still wins "worst plot arch ever" from me.) Now we get this episode, where we find out that apparently since Martin, Sam's been sleeping with random guys whose names she can't even remember. And Martin doesn't act anymore concerned about her in this than he would if it were Viv, or Danny. Not a single line, not a single scene, nothing. Not even something as small as "She never did like to talk about her family." Nada. Don't get me started on the family history they've magically created for her after almost four seasons with no hinting whatsoever - the recent episode hints don't mean a whole lot to me, since clearly they were added to try to give credence to this ridiculous episode. Really, if Sam had killed someone to protect her sister, wouldn't we have seen traumatic responses to things three seasons ago? Two, even? And Jack, covering up the fact that one of his agents killed someone. Oh. My. God. This show has finally passed into the realm of completely ridiculous. She killed him because he was raping her sister. She was what, twelve at the time? I don't think she'd have been convicted!

I am only watching this show for Danny, now.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I would have waited too. It's very tempting to go back and try to rewrite.

Yes, it is. But that is death to the first draft, at least for me. I get caught up in "edit, edit, edit" and then the story dies. So far my strict "no edit" rule has worked very well for this WIP.

Those are totally cute shoes. Can't really comment on the purse, since I pretty much live to not carry one. :)

I have crappy fallen arches, but I can wear a 4 inch heel - I just don't do it very often...and I have at least 2 pairs in the closet that qualify...shoe whore indeed...so I'm like the last person you want giving you purchasing advice on shoes.

Although, the chunkier the heel, the less traumatic to the feet.

I'm so excited. Me stuff is in this year for spring. Broomstick cotton skirts with embroidery and peddle pushers (or whatever they are calling them now) and flowing poet shirts, and princess cut flowing dresses! Yea!

Now I just have to clean out the closets and *actually go buy new clothes!*

Yes, I've noticed the pretty flowing dresses this year. Very nice. :)
