NCIS

The premiere of NCIS was brilliant last night, wasn't it? I scrolled through my f-list first thing this morning, but very few people seem to be talking about it. *pouts*

I haven't yet watched the premiere of the new spin off, but it's waiting on the Tivo.

Okay, so first of all, it's a good thing they do the "previously" recap, because somehow I totally and completely forgot that Ziva was being held somewhere and tortured. In my mind, the season finale ended with her telling Gibbs she was staying to work with her father, and that was it. My subconscious must have decided it really wasn't worth it to stress over that for all of summer, and so blocked it out.

(Too bad it didn't do the same thing with Hotch on Criminal Minds, but whatever. I'm still peeved at TPTB for putting yet another main cast member in a cliffhanger life-or-death situation.)

Let's get this out of the way right up front: I totally ship Tony/Ziva, and have pretty much since she was introduced - since the box car episode, anyway.

*clasps hands and squees Tooooooooooonyyyyyyyyyy!*

~ "After that, business as usual lost all meaning."

("Blah, blah blah, computer stuff, blah, blah, blah."
"There's so many things, and stuff, and emotions - thanks for listening.")

~ Tony and McGee, volunteering for a dangerous 'secret fact finding thingy in the Sahara that isn't actually secret" so they could get captured on purpose - not to rescue Ziva, but to avenge her.

~ "Out of everyone in the world who could have found me - it had to be you." That's right, Ziva. It wasn't Daddy, it was Tony - and Gibbs and the team.

~ "You thought I was dead?"

"Oh, yeah."

"Then why are you here?"

"McGee didn't think you were dead--"

"Tony, why are you here?"

"Couldn't live without you, I guess."

"So, you will die with me. Should've left me alone."

"Okay. Tried. Couldn't. Listen, you should know I've taken some kind of truth serum, so if there's any questions you don't want to know the answers to..."

Like the fact that he couldn't move on without her? Oh, Tony.

~ "That would involve being rescued."

"Yes it would."

"How long will that take?"

"I don't know. How long do you think I've been talking?"

"What's the plan??"

"Well, we fail to contact, word gets to the carrier group in the Med, and they launch F-22 Raptors that burn sand into glass. How long that's gonna take, I don't know. Hours. Days."

The promo for next week just about killed me - it's going to be harder to wait that week than it was to wait all damn summer.

"He risked his life to go there and rescue you." Actually, Abby, he risked his life to go there and avenge her, which is even more telling, actually.

Other random things I enjoyed:

~ when Gibbs made the Tough Chick cry.

~ When the Airforce Chick overheard the team talking about hacking into Mossad - or Vance - and was out of there - most particularly, their reaction - "Whatever."

~ Sniper!Gibbs saving his team. Although it would have been impossible for him to get there at the end all the way from that hill he was sniping on to help them get out of the building, but whatever.

~ Tony was so off the emotional rails in this one - he couldn't let it go, even believing Ziva was mad at him and hated his guts enough to leave the team. He couldn't let it go, even believing Ziva was dead.

~ That look at the end, between Tony and Ziva while Abby's hugging her? There is some definite unfinished business there.

Well, now I don't need to talk about it, since you nailed everything about it that I loved. And I did love it -- this ep was totally worth the wait, although i suspect waiting for next week is going to kill me. (Me on the phone to my dad: "Donald Bellisarius hates me. Me, personally, he hates.")

RE: Gibbs, Dad and I have the theory that he's learned to teleport. it's the only explanation.

But wow, Tony spent the entire episode breaking my heart, and it didn't get any better by the end! "Off the emotional rails" is exactly right -- the longer Ziva was away the crazier he got, and then he went totally into overdrive when they thought she was dead. What really got me, though, more even than anything said under truth serum? Was when he caught himself flirting with the potential agent, and suddenly looked like he'd been punched in the stomach.

I go through periods where I don't love this show 9normally when they've forgotten how to write Tony as a competent adult), and then I go back to loving it passionately. So with the passionately right now. :)

Oh, yes! Forgot about that - the aborted flirtation moment.

I made sure to save this ep so I could watch it again, because I suspect I'm going to need to before next week.

While I don't watch NCIS, it seems like a number of my flisters do. Perhaps you can find discussion with [livejournal.com profile] rahirah, [livejournal.com profile] metaforgirl, [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt, or [livejournal.com profile] settiai? Hope this helps. :)

I've missed so damn many NCIS that I don't know what's going on anymore. I'm going to have to rob someone of their season discs if I can find someone who has them.

Since I hate missing episodes like that, which ruins me for the rest of the season, I didn't watch the premiere. Or the new one.

I loved the Tony/Ziva-ness of the episode, but I was a bit bothered by all the "here is so-and-so and this is their job" bits. Are they trying to bring in new viewers? I thought the show had really good ratings. It just reminded me of the desperate new viewer gimmicks that Alias used to do.

Stupid Canadian channels don't show previews! I'll have to go hunt it down since it seems very important.

Ooooh - I do not still have it on my Tivo, else I'd offer to burn it to DVD for you. If you can't find it, do let me know - I may have other sources.

It is well worth watching!

I found it on Hulu. I think my hubby and I will watach it for dinner. Oh...I mean with dinner. LOL!

I noticed that I did not see the ending of Season 6 and almost died as well. I found Season 6 ep 24 and 25 and may watch that first to see what this whole Zeva/Tony thing is. OMG!
