So, as I stated last week, we had out of town guests all weekend, and stuff going on with them that made writing on NaNo impossible.  I did get a few words in Friday, and then I've gotten another 3k in today, putting me at just over 3K shy of completeing NaNo.  Who knows, I may have time to get that in tonight, but I'm guessing I won't until tomorrow.  So, for now, progress meter:

So close.  We'll see how tonight goes, cause I would reeeeally like to break that NaNo barrier.  I am, however, just over half done with the novel, which I suppose I should start posting progress for:

That's a rough estimate for total words to completion.  It may go slightly over.

Today's NaNo progress:

Bringing my total NaNo progress to:

I wrote a chapter out of order today, totally not intending to when I sat down to write.  But I think it's one of the better chapters, so I'm not going to complain too much.  Tomorrow, it'll be back to the proper order of things.  :)

I am running into difficulties classifying my NaNo genre, however.  It's a fantasy, but also kind of a gothic horror, and also a romance, which could border on erotica, but only because the sex is edgier than the average romance novel, not because the whole book is sex.  (I estimate I'll be at about 60k before the two main protags actually do the deed.)

So, I have no idea where I'll be querying this when it's done.  I may petition for beta readers to help me narrow the genre.

NaNo Day 9

Not as far as I would have liked today, especially with tomorrow being a perhaps iffy writing day, but still decent:

Total NaNo progress comes to:

And I am elbow deep in a masked ball with all my villains, half my heroes, a couple of anti-heroes, and my protagonist meeting her destiny for the first time.  Should be a hella good time, with threats being traded, sparks flying, veiled insults, and the occassional thrown fist.  :)  Heh.  Oh yeah, and at least one really good kiss.

It makes me very sad that I may not be at a computer tomorrow to write much.  Still, this weekend should carry me through and well past the ball.

Because I'm feeling a bit merry tonight, a snippet from the current, as yet unfinished chapter:

I'm sure you all are starting to get tired of the neverending, never changing NaNo posts.  Sorry.

Chapter 7 is up at [profile] charityz

I'm thinking about f-locking those entries soon, so if you want to keep track, you might want to consider friending the journal.  I'll friend you back.  I just don't like the idea of this whole thing sitting there in the ther of the internets.

I won't post there much after NaNo, so you won't be adding much to your f-page except for this month, and maybe a little into December.

Only about 1000 more words to reach my 4k daily goal.  Today is going better than yesterday. :)

NaNo Update

I really wanted to crack 20k today, but it looks like it's not going to happen.  The beginning of the next chapter is proving problematic, and I think in part because I really want  that next 600 words on paper.  *sigh*

Still, total for the day is:

Total for NaNo:

*sigh*  So close.  Still, things are going very well, indeed.  The characters are coming into their own, saying things I would never have thought to have them say on Day 1, telling me what they will and won't do, and the story is taking shape quite nicely.  I'm seeing how some of the pieces fit into the puzzle in ways I didn't expect.

I am only 800 words away from breaking through the 20k mark on NaNo.  I'm sure I will tonight sometime, so I'll wait until then to post progress meters.

In the meantime, though, Chapter 5 is done and posted at [profile] charityz.

I am, in fact, very tired now.  I think I need a little NaNo/writing break.

Nano progress so far today:

Total NaNo progress:

22% in three days, not too shabby.  I'm hoping to get more done tonight/this weekend.

I've updated [profile] charityz with the latest chapter.

*Note: the lovely [personal profile] the_grynne came up with the name 'shaduko' for the new vampires (ie daylight walking) in my NaNo project.  :)

Progress for today:

Total NaNo 2006 Progress:

As always, if you're interested in reading the work so far, I'm posting at my NaNo journal,
[profile] charityz.   So far, I'm feeling  pretty good about my overall progress AND the story itself and how it's going.  Can't ask for much more than that. :)  Here's hoping it keeps up the pace and the writerly glee. :)
